3rd Grade en Français Printables (by date, oldest first)

This newly updated *94 page* unit will cover you for roughly 7-9 Core French 1-hour classes and features a teachable slide deck, worksheets, lesson plans, rubrics, success criteria, a word wall, a phrase wall and numerous suggestions to get your kids having fun, moving, interacting and legitimately enjoying French class with you. The entirety (or parts of) the unit can easily be left with a substitute teacher and you need a quick lesson plan. It's ALL here!

As with all of my Core French products, this one is geared toward a LOW-LEVEL middle-school classroom (grades 3-7). It's high-energy, interactive, highly engaging and requires no prep. It ties in to some science concepts for grades 5 & 6 on biodiversity and adaptations. It features a significant amount of game-based learning and some project-based learning

There are three longer projects included with this unit: "Mon drôle d'animal" which has them building a silly animal and describing its body parts and details; "Mon animal perdu," a poster project which has them creating a poster for their missing pet, and "Une interview à la radio" which has them writing a radio script to find their lost pet with a partner.

• "Une interview à la radio" - A partner skit-writing activity where they'll take turns pretending to be the "animateur" and the "invité" and either record their radio interview, present it to the class, present it to you, or use other means like FlipGrid (if your board allows it) to show you their learnings.

• "Mon animal perdu" - A formal rubric which focuses on their ability to meet the checklist criteria, to be creative, or to be effective communicators in the radio interview.

2 French Children's Story Videos (Petit Poulet and L'Oiseau et la baleine) from The French Experiment are linked.

For your beginner Core French class, I recommend having students watch one of the videos in French first with no subtitles. Have them try to answer as many questions as possible from the accompanying worksheet. You might want to play the video at .75x speed if you teach elementary students.

Next, play the video once more, this time with subtitles. Students will be able to fill in the blanks they missed the first time around.

The last question for each of the stories allow students to think critically about the lesson each story teaches.

The worksheets are in English. The videos are in French.

I found this allows students to think about what they are watching more carefully, learning more French words along the way.

An answer key is not included, but the questions are very simple and you will be able to answer them easily after watching the video. I wrote the answers while watching the videos along with the students.

French months and days cut and paste activity - Les jours et les mois

These cut and paste worksheets will help your beginner French students learn the days of the week and the months. Great for core French and immersion schools!

How to use these worksheets:

One worksheet is included for the days of the week and the 12 months are on two sheets. Have your students cut off the bottom part of the worksheet where indicated with scissors. Then have them cut out the days and months. Now they're ready to paste the days and months in the right spot on the paper. They should put the days and months in chronological order.

Next to each numbered space there are lines where students write out the days and months to help with spelling. When they've finished they'll enjoy coloring the numbers and the little black and white image at the top of the page. This activity is included in my French months and days bundle. Teaching French reading comprehension has never been easier! The theme of this French reading comprehension unit is "Ce matin avant de venir à l'école". This five day French reading unit will have your students reading in French every day of the week, with zero prep for you. Just print and go!

This set of French reading comprehension passages includes five separate reading activities for Monday through Friday with three comprehension questions each.

These one page, no prep reading worksheets are a great way to practice themed vocabulary, see sight words in action, and to improve overall comprehension.

Each French reading activity includes a paragraph to be read three times, once for each of the three questions that follow. Students check off the circled numbers each time they read the text, and then they answer the corresponding comprehension questions.

Students love cutting, pasting, and coloring as you see in the preview. Each worksheet includes six personal pronouns and six regular verbs.Great for core French or immersion schools!

How to use these worksheets

Have your students cut off the bottom part of the worksheet where indicated with scissors. Then have them cut out the six conjugated verbs. Now they're ready to paste the verbs into the sentences paying close attention to the verb endings. When they're finished they'll enjoy coloring the little black and white image at the top of the page.
