Where is the present? This Christmas sight word game is great for students who are practicing sight word recognition and beginning reading skills. This game can be used in a pocket chart or on a table top for an early education classroom.

What is Included:

How to Play:

Where's the Present is a game for centers or whole group instruction where a present is hidden behind a Christmas tree. This classic book by Harriet Ziefert lends itself perfectly to a rhythm vs. steady beat lesson! Using the chant provided, the children can chant/sing to each other, each time that the rooster asks a new animal if they said moo. Use the beat chart and worksheet provided to distinguish and explain the difference between rhythm and steady beat as well as learn about rests in music. Use the decoding sheet to teach children how to write quarter notes and have them fill in the boxes with the appropriate beats and rests. Use this activity to sequence the events in There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Turkey. Each event is pictured on a turkey feather that, when completed, creates an adorable turkey that sequences the story. Print on cardstock to make it more durable or mat it on a large piece of construction paper. Students will color and cut out the turkey feathers and body, glue them together, and have a great "craftivity" that tells what happens in this adorable book.
