Boundaries are guidelines, rules, or limits that separates your physical space, feelings, and needs from others. Social boundaries represent physical and emotional limits that you don’t want people to cross. They identify a safe and permissible way for other people to behave towards you. Being able to set and respect boundaries is a crucial part of self-care and personal development that will serve your students well throughout their entire lives. Teaching boundaries and personal space to your students is essential in helping them reach and maintain successful personal relationships, increase self-esteem and awareness, and take responsibility for creating a life that they choose versus one they are simply at the will of others.

Introducing the topic of social and personal boundaries in the classroom can open up opportunities not only for debate and critical thinking, but also for personal growth and self-reflection.

These questions have the potential to spark engaging discussions among students and introduce them to diverse perspectives on boundaries. It would be intriguing to observe students' thoughts on various boundary-related issues and their understanding of others' viewpoints.

Anxiety is a common human reaction involving the mind and body, marked by feelings of uneasiness, nervousness, worry, fear, or dread about what's coming up or might happen. It acts like an internal alarm system, triggering when someone senses danger or threat. Lately, we've observed an uptick in anxiety among our students, especially teens who are dealing with various stressors.

While it's typical for teenagers to feel concerned during busy and complicated times, it becomes problematic when these worries take over their lives. Unmanaged anxiety can impact students' ability to perform well and handle everyday tasks with a sense of calm. It's essential to teach all students, not just those who are particularly anxious, how to effectively cope with their emotions and anxieties. This helps contribute to their overall well-being and gives them tools to navigate life's challenges more successfully.

This resource features 76 thoughtful writing and discussion prompts centered around anxiety. Designed to prompt students to reflect on the nature of anxiety, its underlying causes, and effective strategies for navigating challenging situations that trigger anxiety, these questions aim to foster a deeper understanding of the subject. Additionally, students are encouraged to articulate their understanding of anxiety. These prompts serve as a valuable tool for facilitating meaningful discussions among students, promoting awareness that enables them to identify anxiety in others and respond empathetically.

Teenagers often experience a variety of conflicts during the holiday season, especially around Christmas, whether it’s with family, friends, or romantic partners. These conflicts can be personal, social, or emotional. The 'Holiday Conflicts' scenarios present realistic situations that many teens face. Engaging with these scenarios helps students build critical thinking skills as they explore potential solutions. Additionally, they can learn effective communication and conflict resolution strategies that are valuable both during the holidays and beyond.

As students prepare to obtain jobs during the summer or after high school, they need to understand that they will deal with customers of all kinds and must prepare for it. Encountering emotional, demanding, or difficult customers as well as tricky situations is just inevitable and part of the job. Students will eventually be "quizzed" on how they would handle difficult customers and situations during interviews for a job! Interviewers want to know if your students, your soon-to-be employees, will be productive team members in their workplace.

These interview questions are a great way to:

⭐ prepare students for job interviews.

⭐ measure what students know and do not know about customer service.

⭐ introduce students to the concept of customer service.

⭐ determine what customer service concepts students need to learn or explore further.

⭐ help students reflect about what they know and what they’ve learned about customers service.

⭐ to assess students’ comprehension on customer service related issues and situations.

⭐ better prepare students for future employment.

These customer service-related job interview questions will reveal useful information about what students know while encouraging them to "think on their feet." Seeing how they react speaks volumes about how they will handle real-life situations.

This resource includes a total of 48 Job Interview Questions related to customers and customer service. It encourages students to think about the overarching concepts of customer service, test their knowledge and explore qualities required for exceptional customer service in any workplace, and how to appropriately and professionally handle difficult customers and situations.

You can ask students to answer the questions in their class journals, in groups (or with their partners), or as part of a class discussion. You can even give students the "hot seat" and have them answer job interview questions in front of the class❗

This resource makes a great addition to any class or course that needs to cover customer service or career readiness because the context is based on experiences your students will eventually face in the workplace.

Students can practice and learn the variety of ways they can handle situations that test their ability to understand others’ points of views, filter their thoughts, respond appropriately and maturely, and communicate effectively. These activities can ultimately improve confidence, communication, and assertiveness skills.

Icebreaker: This can be a great way to start a meeting, training session, or team-building activity. It’s also a great way to get students to get to know each other and buy into the purpose of an upcoming activity or lesson.

Play Writing Exercise: Students can work in groups to create skits or scenes then perform the skits for the class.

Writing Response: Students can be given a scenario to read and then write their responses: How would you show leadership in this situation? How would you respond in this situation? What strategies can you use to motivate your team members to "follow" you? Students can swap papers with a partner who then reads their responses and determines whether they agree/disagree with their responses/approaches to these real-life scenarios/situations.

Discussion: Students can discuss the Scenario Task Cards in groups or whole class.

This highly relevant resource features 40 Remote Learning Challenges Scenarios that students (and teachers) experience on a daily basis since the transition to online learning! These features are especially helpful for students who are less familiar with Google Slides or may need extra support.

*******************************

Social cues—expressed through body language and facial expressions—are a constant part of students’ lives, whether or not they are directly interacting with others. Students with social skills challenges may struggle to interpret these cues, including facial expressions, gestures, and overall posture. Misreading social cues can lead to misunderstandings and difficulties in navigating social situations. Strengthening the ability to recognize and interpret these signals can boost students’ confidence, deepen their understanding of their environment, help them respond appropriately in different situations, manage uncomfortable encounters, and, importantly, prevent potential conflicts.

*******************************

This resource includes 25 practical picture worksheets that help students practice interpreting social cues, such as body language, and responding appropriately. Through these activities, students strengthen their ability to infer people’s feelings and situations, allowing them to choose the most suitable responses.

▶️ 25 Picture Worksheets (Same Pictures in the Task Cards)

**✅ **This resource includes 25 Social Cues Worksheets, available in both printable and digital formats, featuring lines and questions for students to record their responses. Each worksheet contains three questions to prompt student engagement.

  1. What do you notice about this person’s (or people’s) body language?
  2. What do his/her/their cues tell you about his/her/their situation or what he/she/they may be feeling or thinking?
  3. What would be an appropriate thing to do or say to someone in this situation?

✅ Answer Keys | Suggested Responses are included to help you lead effective discussions with your students.

✅ The worksheets feature the same images as the Task Cards and give students the opportunity to interpret social cues, make inferences about a person’s emotions, thoughts, and circumstances, and suggest appropriate responses.

▶️ 25 Picture Task Cards

✅ These Task Cards feature images that illustrate a variety of body language cues. They can be incorporated into larger lessons, used in guided small-group sessions, integrated into whole-class discussions, explored in partner discussions before sharing with the group, or even used one-on-one with a teacher, guidance counselor, or parent/guardian. The images match those featured in the Social Cues Worksheets.

✅ Print the Task Cards on glossy or regular paper and laminate them for durability. You can also organize them on a binder ring for easy access and storage.

Task Cards can be used in several ways:

  • Writing Response: Students analyze a picture to interpret the person’s body language, identifying feelings, thoughts, and circumstances. Prompts such as "Which social cues do you notice?""What do these cues suggest?", and "What is the most appropriate way to respond?" encourage deeper analysis. Students can then exchange papers with a partner, who evaluates the responses and offers alternative perspectives.
  • Discussion: In small groups or as a whole class, students use the Task Cards to identify social cues, interpret their meanings, make inferences about the person or situation, and discuss appropriate ways to respond.

▶️ POWERPOINT (25 SLIDES – EDITABLE!)

**✅ **This resource includes a 25-slide editable PowerPoint. Each slide contains the same images featured in the worksheets and task cards. You can rearrange or resize the pictures as needed and add your own text. This PowerPoint is a versatile tool for guiding your lesson, supporting picture analysis, and encouraging meaningful discussions.

▶️ 3 EDITABLE Social Cues Picture Worksheets

**✅ Editable Picture Worksheet #1: **In this editable version, you may add any picture you like. All other elements on this page are locked and cannot be edited due to copyright restrictions.

**✅ Editable Picture Worksheet #2: **In this editable version, you may add any picture you like and enter your own text in the boxes. All other elements on this page are locked and cannot be edited due to copyright restrictions.

**✅ Editable Picture Worksheet #3: **In this editable version, you can change, replace, and move any element. Nothing on this page is subject to copyright.

Negative thoughts have a profound effect on students’ academic and social successes, behaviors, emotions, self-esteem, and happiness. Negative thinking and self-talk can hold them back and keep them from reaching their full potential. In cognitive behavioral therapy, there are dozens of thinking errors that cause the mind to believe things that are just not true. These writing and discussion questions helps students to understand and reflect about the concept of negative thinking and mindsets and how they themselves can avoid self-defeating thoughts.
