In this product, students will review action verbs. When students understand the parts of speech and how to use each word, it helps them to become stronger writers. Students will review what an action word is, are provided with examples with action verbs, a list of action verbs, and different activities where they review action verbs. Students will circle action verbs in each sentence, circle the correct action verb in each sentence, when given two options, write an action verb on each line to complete each sentence, and make up two sentences that include action verbs based on the numerous picture scenarios that have been provided in this product, and students will make up sentences based on numerous actions verbs that are provided in this product.

Writing about How to Solve a Problem is an important writing project that gives students the time to write about a problem they had to solve or are currently trying to solve. This product sets the foundation for having students learn about simple and advanced problem solving skills that so many students. Once they are finished with their masterpiece, they can share it with their friends and family members. This packet includes information to share with your students about why we write to solve a problem, what steps to follow when writing to solve a problem - state the problem, ask questions, come up with a list of resources, summarize the actions taken to solve the problem, and a solution which shares the decision that was made to solve the problem. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to write to solve a problem. Using this guide, students will write and complete a simple or complex written assignment about how to solve a problem. An example of a completed graphic organizer, an example of written assignment that shows how to write to solve a problem, graphic organizer template, and two rough draft /final draft templates are included with this packet as well.

As our students are completing written assignments, sometimes coming up with characters, a setting, and a plot is difficult. With this product students are provided with a lengthy list of female names, male names, and gender neutral names to choose from, possible setting ideas that also include words that focus on the time of day, time of year, days of the week, and months. This packet also provided plot ideas for a variety of writing assignments such as story ideas about life, science fiction, adventure, mystery, fantasy, funny stories, friendship, superhero, family, and animal story ideas. Students do not have to use the examples provided or even the characters names, but it does provide them with a boost of confidence to pick their own topic.

Deaf Education: Writing a Story about Hearing Loss/Deafness

In this product, the differences and similarities between writing a realistic fiction story and a nonfiction story are shared so students can decide how they want to write their story about hearing loss or deafness. They can write a realistic fiction story if they want to write about events that did not happen, but could have, or they could write a nonfiction story about their own personal experiences. Students will then pick which genre they want to use to write their story about hearing loss or deafness. Students can follow the example provided that goes through the writing process which shows the following: picking a genre, coming up with two possible story ideas their story could be about, deciding on one of the story ideas, adding more details onto their story idea, writing a rough draft, editing, and writing a final draft if required.

Writing a play is a perfect project that gives students time to write about an event that happened in their life or an event that they made up. Once they are finished, they can share it with different groups of people and have their friends play each character. This packet includes information to share with your students about what a play is, examples of plays they may see, what steps to follow when writing the beginning, middle and end of a play, and identifying the parts of a play. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to write a play using a brainstorming play chart. An example of the play chart and template is also included. On the last several pages, templates are included to help students write the rough draft and final draft of their play that includes space for characters, scenes, stage directions, and lines to show what their characters are saying.

Writing a biography is a fun and interesting project for your students. This provides them with the opportunity to learn about someone that interests them and share it with their peers! This packet includes information to share with your students about what a biography is, why do we write a biography, and rules to follow when writing a biography. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to write a biography and the steps that are taken to add onto a biography to be sure it includes a beginning, middle and end. Writing a research report can be a fun and interesting project for your students. This provides them with the opportunity to learn about a topic that interests them and share it with their peers! This packet includes information to share with your students about what a research report is, why do we write a research report, possible topics to write a research report on, what do we share in a research report, and rules to follow when writing a research report. A list of ideas as to where to look for information and tips about what you can find from these sources is also included in this product. This product includes an example of a weak and strong opening paragraph, a list of what makes a great research report, and a guided research report writing structure is also included. An example of three possible writing topics, a completed KWL chart, and a brainstorming chart that will serve as a guide when writing the rough draft of the research report is included in the student packet. An example of a rough draft on rain forests is also provided to help support students and serve as a guide to help them when writing their own rough draft. Templates are included after the example along with a rough draft template and reminder checklist so students remember to go back and check their work once it is completed.

As our students are completing written assignments, using quotation marks in dialogue can be confusing. Students need to remember to use a comma before or after a quote, a capital letter when a statement is made by a character, descriptive tags, and quotation marks. Students can get easily confused when learning how to show dialogue between characters when they are having a conversation. In this product, students review why quotation marks are used in dialogue, complete sentences to show dialogue (adding in commas and quotation marks), make corrections to sentences by adding missing commas or quotation marks, make up sentences to show dialogue based on picture scenarios, make up sentences without picture scenarios that include dialogue, and students also have the opportunity to write a short story that include at least 5 communication exchanges between characters that include capitalization, commas, quotation marks, and descriptive tags.

Writing a fable can be a fun and interesting project for your students. This provides them with the opportunity to use creativity while writing their fable and share it with their peers!
This product includes information to share with your students about what a fable is, why we write a fable, possible lessons that can be learned when writing a fable, who a fable is written for, possible options students can choose to publish their fable, rules to follow when writing a fable, using a strong opening compared to a weak opening in the first paragraph of your fable, tips that are useful to write a great fable, the layout of the fable is provided, an example of a fable is included in this product that includes an idea template, planning the fable with more in depth ideas, and an example of a fable rough draft is included in this product. After the example fable is read, students can answer 4 comprehension questions about the fable. Students will are also provided with a template that includes an area for 3 fable ideas, and once they choose their fable, they can add onto their fable using the idea chart. Templates are included after the example along with a rough draft template and reminder checklist so students remember to go back and check their work once it is completed.
