In this product, students will review action verbs. When students understand the parts of speech and how to use each word, it helps them to become stronger writers. Students will review what an action word is, are provided with examples with action verbs, a list of action verbs, and different activities where they review action verbs. Students will circle action verbs in each sentence, circle the correct action verb in each sentence, when given two options, write an action verb on each line to complete each sentence, and make up two sentences that include action verbs based on the numerous picture scenarios that have been provided in this product, and students will make up sentences based on numerous actions verbs that are provided in this product.

As students are learning the difference between singular and plural nouns, coming up with sentences using those nouns is our next step. My students love booklets of any kind that they can refer back to. Once they have come up with their sentences, they will include pictures that they print and cut out, draw pictures freehand, or find pictures in a magazine that they can add to each page of the booklet to connect with what they wrote about. This gives students the opportunity to connect what they are learning about in the classroom with their own personal interests. Writing about How to Solve a Problem is an important writing project that gives students the time to write about a problem they had to solve or are currently trying to solve. This product sets the foundation for having students learn about simple and advanced problem solving skills that so many students. Once they are finished with their masterpiece, they can share it with their friends and family members. This packet includes information to share with your students about why we write to solve a problem, what steps to follow when writing to solve a problem - state the problem, ask questions, come up with a list of resources, summarize the actions taken to solve the problem, and a solution which shares the decision that was made to solve the problem. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to write to solve a problem. Using this guide, students will write and complete a simple or complex written assignment about how to solve a problem. An example of a completed graphic organizer, an example of written assignment that shows how to write to solve a problem, graphic organizer template, and two rough draft /final draft templates are included with this packet as well.

As our Deaf/hard of hearing/ELL students are completing written assignments, little words/parts of speech that are commonly confused when writing with words such was and were. My students are confusing them for each other continuously. The words was and were are emphasized in this product. Students will determine if was or were belong in each sentence and will write the word on each space provided.

Writing a play is a perfect project that gives students time to write about an event that happened in their life or an event that they made up. Once they are finished, they can share it with different groups of people and have their friends play each character. This packet includes information to share with your students about what a play is, examples of plays they may see, what steps to follow when writing the beginning, middle and end of a play, and identifying the parts of a play. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to write a play using a brainstorming play chart. An example of the play chart and template is also included. On the last several pages, templates are included to help students write the rough draft and final draft of their play that includes space for characters, scenes, stage directions, and lines to show what their characters are saying.

As our students are completing written assignments, using quotation marks in dialogue can be confusing. Students need to remember to use a comma before or after a quote, a capital letter when a statement is made by a character, descriptive tags, and quotation marks. Students can get easily confused when learning how to show dialogue between characters when they are having a conversation. In this product, students review why quotation marks are used in dialogue, complete sentences to show dialogue (adding in commas and quotation marks), make corrections to sentences by adding missing commas or quotation marks, make up sentences to show dialogue based on picture scenarios, make up sentences without picture scenarios that include dialogue, and students also have the opportunity to write a short story that include at least 5 communication exchanges between characters that include capitalization, commas, quotation marks, and descriptive tags.
