This "Think Before You Speak" activity puts a focus on taking time to reflect and think before speaking to others. In this interactive activity, students are put into teams, where they are helping one another guess a specific word while also avoiding the guess of another word. Students must focus and carefully select the words in which they are using to be helpful - a social skill that we all utilize daily (even if we do not realize it!) This activity is a great resource to bring this skill to life and take time to reflect and connect - while having a little fun in doing so! Some of the questions require students to put their feet in the shoes of the characters who are experiencing nervousness. When students are reading each story, they will review feeling nervous and what happens when they feel that way. They can also use strategies learned in these social stories throughout their day to day routine. The vocabulary word nervous is reviewed and discussed, the questions: how do you feel when you are nervous is asked and how can you make yourself feel better if you feel nervous. Examples of feeling nervous are reviewed in this product.

This product includes 20 positive affirmation cards. A positive affirmation card can be distributed to each student over the course of 20 days. The positive affirmation cards help to improve your students self esteem regarding school, project they are working on, tests they may take, and friendship.

This product includes 14 social stories that focus on feeling stressed, upset, excited, nervous, sad, shy, and jealous. Students will be required to put their feet in the shoes of each character in each social story. This product can be printed and laminated and the feelings cards can be cut out and Velcro can be applied to the back of them so they can be placed on each social story. Students can use pencil (if not laminated) and dry erase marker to write how the character felt. After the student has written their answer, there can be a discussion with the student about what they would do if they were the character in each situation.
