Ready to break the code by solving probability problems?

This Simple Probability | Digital Escape Room Code Breaker includes 20 problems that you and your students must solve to figure out how to open the safe!

This Google Form activity is perfect to have 7th grade students practice solving probability problems while having fun.

EDIT: Added a set of printable task cards, handouts and solutions.

I would use this activity as a way to practice solving probability with my students. You could use this activity in almost any format needed - whole or small group, or even assign it as an individual practice activity! This code breaker activity will help your seventh-grade students to master probability problems through fun by challenging questions.

Students must solve 20 problems in order to figure out how to open a safe!

This is a Google Form activity. There are no links to outside websites. The four parts are set with answer validation: students cannot move to the next part until they solve all the problems.

Other ways to use this resource:

★ additional materials for remediation

★ a reward or “Fun Friday” activity

★ before the busy holiday break

★ an emergency sub lesson plan

Here is a FIVE Station activity on probability. Students rotate through the stations working on different aspects of probability with decks of cards.

**NOTE - I actually use this in a 7 station setup. One station is group 1-on-1 with me and another group is at the computers. (See last thumbnail for explanation.)

This resource focuses on understanding the Relationship between Ratios, Rates and Unit Rates. The worksheet has 25 fill-in questions that are Common Core aligned (6.RP.A.2) .

• Questions 1: Give the definitions of the three comparisons (Ratio-Rate-Unit rate).

• Question 2: Activity that groups ratios, rates, and unit rates in a box + four questions for students to explain the difference between the comparisons.

• Question 3: Table to class different examples of ratios.

• Question 4: Example of how to convert a rate into a unit rate+ eight questions for a student to find the unit rate.

• Question 5: Circle the unit rates among ratios.

• Question 6: Two word problems to identify the best rate.

• Question 7: Draw a line from the rate to its unit rate between two situations.

• Question 8: True or false.

• Questions 9&10: Eight cases to determine the best deal on a purchase.

It is always a good strategy to review essential skills with your students, and this is right up there with the most essential!

This data and statistics project is a fun practical, real-life way to analyze and compare data by making use of real-life data, statistics and plots like a box-and-whisker and a scatter plot. Refresh the concepts of mean, median, mode, range, 1st quartile, 3rd quartile, outliers, minimum, maximum by comparing how high and how far students in 2 different classes jumped.

This project is tried, tested and refined over many years in my own middle and high school classrooms. It breathes new life into topics that will be stale, boring and old if not done in a real-life way. Students will be able to debate and defend certain viewpoints using the data and their own analysis of it.

A wonderful Real-Life Math bundle with lots of practical applications.

These projects and tasks, (with keys), make Data and Statistics come alive. They are tried, tested and improved over many years in my middle school classroom. Students get to think about concepts such as mean, median, range, mode, quartiles and outliers in a real life and practical way. The products include both quantitative and qualitative data and the statistics involved. Both the measures of central tendency and measures of dispersion are covered.
