Do your AP French students need practice reading non-fiction in order to prepare for the test? Are you looking for interesting reading activities that can be done as class readings, independent reading, or free voluntary reading? Are you doing plenty of fun stories in your CI-driven French class, but you'd like to expose students to some less-common vocabulary or non-fiction readings? These readings are perfect for your intermediate and advanced French classes, levels 2 (with scaffolding) and up (more independently).

Most are non-fiction, but there are a few fiction stories mixed in. Science, culture, biographies, current events, cultural readings - a little bit of everything in one place! We all know how students get excited on holidays: Christmas, Valentine's, Halloween, and Thanksgiving! Through these activities, not only will they have fun working together or individually to solve the puzzles, but they will also have the opportunity to practice reading latitude and longitude coordinate grid systems (absolute location). Each moment is a teaching moment, and this holiday resource will allow reinforcement of their map reading skills. Students will use the absolute locations that are provided on the key and identify the points on the coordinate grid, drawing one line from one point to another. End the end, they have a photo to color and decorate!
