Looking for a final writing assignment on Shakespeare's Julius Caesar? This resource features everything you'll need to lead students through the process of writing an analytical essay about Julius Caesar.

The resource features 5 writing prompts which will motivate students to think with nuance about important themes in the play. The resource also includes scaffolding to help students select evidence, generate an outline, and begin writing. For teachers, the resource features an assessment rubric which can be used to grade and provide feedback on students' analytical writing.

This product has 3 parts. First, there is a hi-lighting activity that requires students to go back into an Argument Essay they've already written and color-code the different essential parts of their writing. You could post this assignment on Google classroom or project the directions onto the Smart Board. The second part is a checklist for Argument Writing. You will make a copy for each student. The students could use it themselves for self- assessment, OR they could switch and use it for peer feedback. Finally, there is a very helpful chart that includes transition words for Argument Writing, including power words, transition words, turnback words, and counter argument words. You can copy this for all students, hang it on the wall, project it on the Smart Board, or post it on Google classroom. My students keep this in their binders to refer to all year long.

This one week SPANISH writing program will have your students writing every day of the week, and is perfect for Spanish immersion and regular Spanish curriculum. The writing activities in this program include five prewriting and writing activities for Monday through Friday. These writing prompts are a great way both to introduce and to review writing. Provide each student with a "párrafo de la semana" folder and have them add to it every day as you give them daily assignments. At the end of the week have them turn in their folders.

Theme: Si tuviera tres deseos...

Here’s how this program works:

✍Lunes:  Dibujo - Give students a drawing page with a writing prompt at the top. This will have them beginning to think about the writing theme for the week and is their first pre-writing assignment. Kids love drawing, and the pictures they draw will later serve as inspiration!

✍Martes:  Mi folleto de vocabulario - Each student receives a booklet to help them explore the vocabulary related to the week’s writing theme. The front page includes the writing prompt of the week and an image. The second page includes over 80 frequently used Spanish words. Page three lists 12 words that go along with the theme of the week, and the back page has space for ten words that students have either thought of on their own or looked up in the dictionary. The booklet is a simple one page printable that you can either fold in advance or have students do it on their own. Kids write their name on the front cover and you could have them color it.

✍Miercoles:  Vocabulario - Students go back to their vocabulary booklets from Tuesday and choose ten words that they will include in their rough draft. The words they choose can be a combination of words they have chosen and themed vocabulary that was already written in the booklet. They then write down the chosen words on their vocabulary page that says “ Palabras de vocabulario útiles: Voy a utilizar estas palabras en mi párrafo".

✍Jueves:  Mi borrador - Students write a rough draft of their paragraph using the vocabulary words selected on Wednesday. The brouillon page includes a 5 point checklist at the top for students to evaluate their work for themselves before writing the final copy on Friday. This will motivate students to look over their work and make corrections. 

✍Viernes:  Mi borrador final - The fifth and final step in this writing program is to write the final copy. Students should feel very confident in writing about this week’s theme by now. At the top of the final copy page they’ll see the writing prompt and question words that they can ask themselves while writing:  quién - qué - cuándo - dónde - por qué - cómo

Look no further, scoop up these Writing Peer Assessments which come 2 per page and put the bulk of the grading task on the students themselves! Working with their peers, students first read the writing assignments or essays, then list their strengths and weaknesses. At this point, you can also give them copies of rubrics to reference as well. After doing a deep-dive into the writing assignment, students then assign a grade and staple their Peer Writing Assessment slip to the front and all you need to do is review the comments and decide if you agree with the grade given. In the end, the grade given by the teacher is final! Although I don't utilize this method for EVERY essay I grade, I definitely turn to these peer assessments when grading becomes overwhelming!
