DIRECTIONS FOR USE

WORKSHEETS

NO-PREP, PRINT & GO! You can use just the cut and paste pages or also pass out the additional sentence writing page that matches. The second page can also be used for early finishers. The ABC cut and paste worksheet has the alphabet listed as a reference. The sentences page has an editing checklist on it.

LITERACY CENTER

Cut apart the 26 picture/word cards and place in center. Print one or both recording sheets and place in center. Students choose 6 picture/word cards, copy those 6 words onto their cut and paste sheet, then complete their worksheet. If you place the second worksheet at the station, students will choose 4 of their words to practice sentence writing and editing.

How do I set up the activity?

Just print and play! Everything you need is included in your download. You don’t need locks (you can prepare one or even use my digital lock included in this kit if you wish to), envelopes, or special equipment. You can hang or hide the puzzles or just spread them out on the kitchen table.

Do I have to print out the game materials for every kid?

Nope! You ONLY have to print out the answer sheet for each kid or group. Just one set of the actual puzzles is all you need! If you choose to use the digital version to save paper and ink, then you will only need to print the QR codes for the Mission (get the kids to scan and read this first), Hint Cards and Puzzle Tasks 1-9.

Do I have to print out the Mystery Door for the game?

Nope! I suggest that you show the picture of the door + QR code on your phone or laptop for pupils to scan and enter their 4-digit secret code. You can also use an actual lock where the kids can actually enter the 4-digit secret codes to complete the game.

In We Beat The Street, Sampson, Rameck, and George make poor decisions that ultimately lead to detrimental consequences. This resource includes four graphic organizers (one for each individual and the boys collectively) where students specify the poor decisions these boys make and what consequences these poor decisions lead to, and then suggest "wiser" decisions the boys could have made instead.

Detailed ANSWER KEYS are included for ALL graphic organizers, including chapter and page numbers to allow easy access to information, important events, and talking points.

Since there is a graphic organizer for each individual Sampson, Rameck, and George, and one for the boys together, you can distribute these graphic organizers to set a purpose for reading. Students can follow the individuals' journeys throughout the book!

The Graphic Organizers are visually appealing as it contains mature clip art images, borders, and fonts.
