Headbands

2 French designs and 2 English designs for the K-3 classroom

Making these fun and simple headbands are always a HIT with the littles. A quick no prep activity is just what every teacher needs. Copy, cut and paste. Students can wear these all day on the day of the Solar Eclipse or on the day after. A little sweet tongue in cheek headband!

How to use this:

Set it out as a self-guided activity with materials, pencils, glue sticks, and scissors for students to use.

Create the headbands as a whole class activity and watch as students help each other measure the headbands together.

Teacher assisted for the littles, and you can easily cut and glue (or staple if that is easier).

I personally feel that this resource is ideal for any students from K-2 although those in Grade 3 may love these headbands too!

I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. Music is inspiring and is a great way to help students find interest in the topic being studied and grasp the information. I use it often! This lesson implements June Carter Cash's and Johnny Cash's song, Ring of Fire, as part of the introduction. In addition, the lesson discusses not only the plates but also the boundaries and how they move creating new landforms. Students will, in addition, track and plot earthquakes and volcanoes.

OBJECTIVE:

o The learner will identify the Ring of Fire’s geographical location and will identify it as a region.

o The learner will describe the events that occur along the Ring of Fire—earthquakes and volcanic activity.

o The learner will plot recent earthquakes and volcanoes in the Pacific Ocean on a map to discover the relationship between these events and the plate boundaries.

o The learner will determine the types of boundaries that lie within the Ring of Fire

MATERIAL NEEDED:
o Copies of Ring of Fire lyrics, Johnny Cash version, written by June Carter Cash (Included)

o Technology to play the song as learners follow along with the lyrics. (Find the song on Youtube or Spotify)

o Demonstrations: Graham crackers, peanut butter, a plate, and something with which to spread the peanut butter (or substitute icing or anything creamy) (5) bowl of water (If you want you can have students take part in the demonstration, provide enough for learners to work in groups.)

o Tectonic Plate Puzzle (Included)

Does your middle school need consistent science vocabulary development across Earth, Life, and Physical Science classes? Then this is the resource for you! This bundle contains over 480 words that are used in teaching the NGSS. There are definitions as well as pictures on most cards. Teachers are encouraged to display each overarching area, then place the standard under the area along with the 'I can" bubble. The words for each standard should be placed under it. Have fun this Earth Day with this fun and hands-on Sorting Recycling Activity. This Earth day activity is perfect to teach your learners about recycling and its importance. Learners will sort the items into the different bins and learn about the different materials that can be recycled.

This printable contains:

---> 7 different recycling bins (small and large versions)

---> Items of different materials to be sorted into the different bins

---> Sorting Recycling Info Sheet

---> Includes color and BW versions

Instructions:

•Print out pages and laminate if desired.

•Cut apart the bins, and the items for recycling.

•Discuss with your learners about what items can be recycled and how they must be separated into different bins for recycling.

•Ask your learner to pick up a card, name it and if possible to mention what material the item is made of.

•Then ask them, under which bin they think the item should be placed.

•Continue this until all the items have been sorted.

•If your learner can read, you can give the sheet with the sorting information and ask them to see whether the items have been sorted correctly.

•To make this activity self-checking, put a small coloured dot behind, matching the bin colour.
