Student Success Guidebook - Brochure Project
By Innovations in Technology
Creating a Student Success Guidebook (brochure project) gives students an opportunity to share their knowledge and tips for success in middle school with the following year’s new incoming class of students. This is perfect for a technology or leadership class, or for a club that focuses on assisting students, such as Student Council. Students work in small teams to research an assigned topic about expectations in middle school, specific to their school. Next, they create one page of a brochure with their information which will finally be combined with the other teams’ pages to create a full brochure that can be published and distributed to incoming students. The project was created for 8th graders but could easily be adapted to use with 5th or 6th graders leaving elementary school and providing tips for success to new elementary students, or could be used by sophomores (or above) in high school to create a success guide for incoming high school freshmen.
Great end of year project!!
Files Included with this Lesson
• Teacher & Student Notes and Resources

3rd Grade Sight Word Sentences Booklet - 41 words
By Sign with me TOD
This product is made for:
As students are learning the 41 - 3rd grade sight words in this product, they will be provided with each word, an example of the word used in a sentence, and the opportunity to make up a sentence themselves using the word. I find that with my students who are Deaf/hard of hearing/ELL, when they make up sentences using each newly learned sight word, it helps them to remember how to spell the word, the meaning, and how it is used. My students love booklets of any kind that they can refer back to. Once they have come up with their sentences, they can include pictures that they print and cut out, draw pictures freehand, or find pictures in a magazine that they can add to each page of the 3rd grade sight word booklet that matches each sentence they come up with. This gives students the opportunity to connect what they are learning about in the classroom with their own personal interests. This booklet is perfect for students that are on grade level as well as students who require instructional information to be adapted.
If you are interested in the product above, the sight word checklist may be of interest to you as well.

April Nonfiction Reading Comprehension Passages
By Basic Biz Teaching
This resource will provide your second grade, third grade, and fourth grade students with 29 nonfiction passages about holidays in the month of April. Use these no-prep worksheets to have your students reading about various topics.
It seems like every day is National (insert cool thing here) Day. I decided to look into these holidays to bring some fun and excitement back to informational passages. The best part about these units though... they are EASILY enrichable! For example, take a virtual field trip to the zoo for Zoo Day, draw a dolphin for Dolphin Day, or enjoy some blueberry pie on Blueberry Pie Day!
My class has had such a fun time reading these passages and celebrating something each day.
In this unit, you will be given 29 informational passages with text dependent questions requiring short answer responses.
Please consider that not every day has a holiday that is school appropriate. Not every holiday remains on the same day each year.
All passages are informational based, usually with a history on the day and whatever is being celebrated. Passages have 4-6 questions with a few skills being met:
Similar format throughout the unit so students get familiar with text structure and routine quickly. This document has the passage on top with the questions below.
Use during:
Did you know these passages come in a different format?
Check out my other monthly holiday passages below:
