The Chapter Book Response Sheets can be used with any chapter book. This product comes with 14 different response sheets-students can complete a response sheet after each chapter or after several chapters. These response sheets are ideal for Literature Circles, Independent Read, Homework, etc. Each response sheet focuses on different concepts that are aligned with Common Core. Below are suggestions for the use of the Chapter Book Response Sheets:

Literature Circles- Students can use the response sheet after each chapter or every couple of chapters. The concepts covered can be used as discussion pieces during Literature Circle.

Independent Read- Students can use these response sheets to keep their reading skills and memory fresh while reading a chapter book. They can keep their response sheets in order and have a study guide to look back on at the end of the book.

Homework- Students can be assigned one or more chapters, and do a response sheet for homework.

This is a novel study to go along with Roland Smith’s Novel Peak. This product includes completed lesson plans for each chapter, a Google Slide Show for each chapter, Doodle Notes for each chapter, an End of chapter activity for each chapter, and a final STEM project to go with the book. Students will practice making inferences, central idea, supporting details, writing summaries, cause and effect/Problem and solution text structures, research skills, and discussion skills.

A large part of this novel study is discussion-based. I have included a slide on the slideshow where you will put your classroom expectations for discussions. There are also times for the introduction to the chapter, you will start with a whole group discussion. (I would maybe recommend turn and talks if you use groups in your classroom)

The Lesson Plans and Google Slides are editable for you. You can edit them on Google Slides and/or Microsoft Powerpoint (I would recommend Google Slides because that is the app that it was created with). **The standards are not included in the lesson plans due to each state having their own standards**

While working with my own reading group I discovered that their isn't much out their for response that can be tailored to ANY fiction book. These 8 graphic organizers are made to work with any fiction book. Great for a book club or an extension group.

You can use as many or as few of the pages as you would like to create your own packet.

A NOVEL STUDY for THE LAST MAPMAKER based on the book by Christina Soontornvat.

This 89 page Novel Study includes highly engaging and comprehensive questions and activities that allow your students to respond to the story by using a wide range of reading comprehension strategies and skills.

This is a NO-PREP resource that has been created with questions and activities following the order of the book. Students will be able to respond to each section after they have read it. Teachers can use this resource as either an independent work packet for students or as a guide to questions and discussion whilst working alongside students. Students will cover a wide range of Curriculum Standards in context.

This novel study is ideal as an independent activity or follow-up to the book.

• Critical Thinking - using themes from the story to consider wider issues.

All activities have been designed with student engagement at the forefront. In responding to the book, students will be required to think both within and beyond the text. Children learn best when they are having fun! Even better that they are learning the love of books at the same time!
