These are the directions I typically give for filling out summaries:

Print off as many pages as your student will need to complete chapter summaries for each chapter in their book or each assigned section of their reading in order to summarize their book accurately.

I have also provided a cover page, allowing students to collect all their pages together and submit a completed project. A basic rubric is included as well.

Alphabet Fun is a great resource for teaching letter recognition and sounds. It includes two pages for each alphabet letter, one review page for every two letters and a "watch" for children to wear home encouraging their families to ask about the letter sound they mastered that day. My Funky First Grade

This two page resource is a must for a pre-reading assignment for the book Mr. Popper's Penguins by Florence and Richard Atwater. It includes six statements where students need to decide if they strongly agree, somewhat agree, somewhat disagree, and strongly disagree. They then have to give their reasoning. These statements correlate to themes and lessons they will read throughout the book and it gives students a fun and engaging way to get their minds activated before reading!

** Research has shown that deeper comprehension takes place when students are engaged in activities that bridge prior knowledge with what they are about to learn. This product will help students connect the novel to their already existing knowledge in order to make the new reading more stimulating and engaging.
