How to play (written at the top of each page): Complete more boxes than your opponent. Each player draws lines using a different color. On your turn, make a horizontal or vertical line from one dot to another. Say the words on either side of the line you drew. If you complete a box on your turn, draw an X in the box using your color. Once all of the boxes have been completed, count to see who got the most.

It can be difficult for students to get the hang of using the imparfait and many will need a variety of activities and lots of practice to get it. Make learning about French culture and history interesting with this no-prep digital escape game bundle.  The games include access to a website where your students will hunt for the keys to unlock a set of locks.  Students will need to read the clues very carefully and watch videos, visit websites, and read texts to find the information they need to win the game.  Very easy to use - just send your students to the website and let them work!  Students can play individually or in teams.

Digital escape games are a fun way to start a unit, or to review at the end of a unit.  They can also be used to learn about a cultural or historical event.  This game will have your students reading carefully and paying attention to the smallest details in order to complete the challenge and unlock the locks.

Included in the French autumn bundle you will find a nice variety of short stories, non-fiction readings, games and activities. It’s a mix of print and digital items - so if you’ve never tried assigning a Google drive or Boom cards activity before, this can be a way to try it out.

Short stories in the bundle - great for sub plans:

• Un Dîner Spécial - a printable short story for Thanksgiving. Follow the adventures of a crew of animals who have misunderstood the holiday in a very bad way.

• Les Zombies Attaquent - a fun short story about - what else? - zombies!  It’s a great review for the imparfait and passé composé.  Includes a Boom AND print version of the story.

• Frankie le Vampire - A fun short story about a vampire who isn’t really very good at being a vampire.

Digital activities:

• Halloween digital stickers - A set of 12 digital stickers that you can use wherever you like - One Note, Google drive, or any digital platform that allows png images.

• Digital magnetic poetry - A Google drive activity with “magnets” of French words that students can move around to make their own poems with a fall theme.

• Halloween vocabulary digital game - Includes 30 vocabulary words about the holiday - a fun, no-prep way to learn and practice the vocabulary.  Both a PowerPoint/PDF/Google drive version and a Boom version are included.

• La Toussaint digital escape game - A fun and challenging game for your students!  They will learn about some of the spooky things in French history as well as how the holiday of La Toussaint is celebrated.   No need to prep - just share the URL with your students!

• L'armistice digital escape game - Learn about the end of World War 1 and how the holiday is celebrated in different countries.

• Le Fantôme du Manoir - A digital game for the passé composé with avoir. Collect the objects and put them in the family tomb in order to remove a ghost from your new home.

Non-fiction readings:

• Sous Paris French reading - learn about the spooky things under Paris and the people who love to explore them.  Includes information about the catacombs.
• The Cursed Lighthouse - the lighthouse of Ténnevec off the coast of Brittany had a reputation for being haunted.  Find out what the real story behind it was.
• Père-Lachaise cemetery - Read about the final resting place of many Parisians and a major tourist attraction.

Writing activity:

• Thanksgiving writing prompts for French levels 1-4 - a variety of prompts that will allow all levels to write about what they are thankful for.

Play these easy-to-use PowerPoint games just like the popular TV game show, Jeopardy! It's a great way to review French grammar and verb tenses before big quizzes or tests. Detailed directions, rules and tips are included. The video preview I've included demonstrates the passé composé of irregular verbs that use avoir as a helping verb. All of the games follow the same model.

These French jeopardy games feature many exciting bells and whistles like music, timers, cheer sounds, boo sounds, a daily double, and a final jeopardy question. Each game includes 6 categories, a daily double, and a final jeopardy question.

This is a version that I’ve worked out the kinks on over many years of playing it with my students. The answers don’t have to be given in the form of a question unless you want to play that way. My students absolutely love this game. They get very excited about it and always look forward to "jeopardy day".
