Fruit and Vegetable Word and Letter Puzzles

Match the fruit or veggie to the word and letter in these puzzles! These cover all of the fruits and vegetables in my Fruit and Vegetables Vocabulary Word Wall Cards. There are two styles of puzzles: one is a two piece puzzle with the picture of the produce one one side and the word for it on the other. The other style is a three piece puzzle with one piece showing the word, one piece showing the picture, and the other piece showing the beginning letter of the produce. There are a total of 82 puzzles featuring 18 fruits and 22 vegetables. These are low prep and need to be laminated, but are full color and ready for literacy centers, early finishers, preschool centers and more. English months, days, and seasons game - I have...Who has?

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

✮ English months, days, and seasons game - I have...Who has? ✮

This version includes 27 cards. Depending on class size you could either give each student more than one card or have them play with a partner. I recommend printing out and laminating these cards if possible so that you can use them over and over again. This is a great resource for ESL or any classroom where English is spoken.

Here's how this game works. Once each student has a card (or cards), the one who has the card that says I'll start the game begins the game. He says, for example, I'll start the game. I have May. Who has Autumn? The person who has the card with autumn on it says, I have autumn. Who has Thursday? And so the game goes on until the last card is called and that student's card will say, The game is over!

Another idea is to prepare two sets of cards, divide your class into two groups and let each group have a go to see which team can get through the entire deck of cards the fastest. It's a lot of fun, and though you can play with younger students the older ones love this game just as much.

This resource is included in my ESL - ELL speaking, listening, writing activities and games - Growing bundle.

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

Primary English Speaking Prompts: 100 Question Cards for Discussion

Use this set of primary English speaking prompt cards to get even your most timid students talking to each other in English. Click here for a set of these cards in French.

This no prep activity is perfect for small groups or centers. You can also use one card per page version to project and make it a whole class activity. These speaking cards are perfect for primary English. You can easily use these cards as a review with ESL students at any level also.

Included: 100 speaking prompt cards

There are many ways you can use this set of 100 speaking cards:

➤ Print, laminate, cut out, punch holes & attach on a ring for small groups to ask and answer questions.

➤ Use as a warm-up speaking activity with a conversation buddy. As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box.

➤ Students who finish their work earlier than others can choose a few of the cards and write out their answers.

➤ Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer.

➤ Stations: Put students into groups and divide the cards amongst them. Have groups rotate to a new station as they finish the cards.

➤ Scoot: Put one card on each desk in the classroom. Give each student a response sheet and set a timer to give them just enough time to answer the question. When the timer rings students move on to the next desk and the next question.

➤ Use the cards with board games. Students must answer a question in order to move.

➤ Use the cards as a getting to know you activity.

➤ Great resource for tutoring sessions

Go Fish / 7 Families Game - I AM STATEMENTS - English

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

Go Fish / 7 Families Game - I AM STATEMENTS - English

Go Fish / 7 Families - This classic card game is fun for students of all ages! Looking for easy prep literacy activities for independent work during differentiated reading instruction? This version of the game is for practicing I AM + ADJECTIVE and is excellent for ESL. Play this game along with my Dots & Boxes activity to provide differentiation, or save money and buy the bundle!

Each of the 7 "families of cards" begins with one of the following, and verbs in the present tense are used in the I - YOU - HE - SHE - WE - THEY forms:

  • I am....
  • I am not....
  • Am I....?

The following adjectives are used in this game: THIRSTY - HUNGRY - AFRAID - HOT - COLD - RIGHT - WRONG

Includes:

42 playing cards to print on heavy paper or card stock

How to play

This card game is an excellent way to practice and memorize the verb TO BE and the I AM + ADJECTIVE construction. It will have your students speaking to each other in English the whole time! They will make affirmative and negative statements about what they can and can't do.

One player distributes five cards to each player (2 to 4 per group). The rest of the cards are placed in a stack in the middle. One player begins the game by asking another player to give him a card. He or she might say, "Do you have I AM HUNGRY?"

The goal is to come up with 7 complete families. The different verbs represent the families. There are 6 cards to a family (I - YOU - HE - SHE - WE - THEY). Students will find it helpful to group together the cards that have the same picture at the top (flower, flip-flops, etc.) If the player doesn't have it, he says "Go fish". If he draws the card that he asked for, he can continue to play and ask someone for another card. Each time a player comes up with all six members of a family, he can make a stack. At the end of the game, the player with the most sets of families wins!
