The recording page allows for the student to fill in the unit of measure they are working with, unifix cubes, cm. cubes, beans, paperclips, inches, centimeters, etc... so it is very open ended to suit the needs of your curriculum and students abilities. With this resource, students will learn how to measure mass using a pan balance. There are two worksheets to use with students when teaching them how to weigh objects using a pan balance and gram weights. There is one that uses common objects that can be used when first teaching your students how to use a pan balance. There is one for independent work. Students choose objects to place in the pan balance from the classroom and label and record their answers.

This product assumes that the teacher will teach students how to properly use the pan balance.

This telling the time puzzle is a fun way to test students ability to tell the time. Students match the image of an analogue clock, the time in words, digital and 24-hour time. Included are variations of the following times: o’clock, half past, quarter past and to, 10 minute intervals and minute intervals. It is designed to be easily cut with little wastage. So either the teacher or tutor can prepare the cards by cutting them before hand, or students can cut their own cards, giving them a chance to see the solutions before they attempt the puzzle. Although this product is made in colour, it prints perfectly well in black and white.

Get your students up and moving as they measure objects using non-standard and standard measurements. Students will measure the length, height, weight, and capacity of common things found in the classroom.

You will receive a set of 20 worksheets and vocabulary cards for this unit.

-insects sort-small, medium, and large

-draw objects taller, shorter, heavier, or lighter than me

-measure using unifix cubes and paper clips

-measure height using unifix cubes

-order objects from shortest to longest

-discriminate objects that are tall and short

-discriminate objects that are heavy and light

-measure bats using balls

-measure height using feet

-counting steps from heel to toe to classroom objects from your seat

-find heavy and light objects on a balance scale

-use blocks to balance a scale with other objects

-order by capacity

-use pennies to fill in a bank (estimate and count)

-use cotton balls to fill in a mitten (estimate and count)

-use unifix cubes to fill in a birthday cake (estimate and count)

-measure objects found in the classroom, record object, unit of measurement, estimation, and actual count

This set of math rings allows students to compare the lengths of objects. There are two different rings in this set of first grade math center activity. Set 1: This math rings shows two objects and students must determine if the object on the top is longer than or shorter than the object on the bottom. Set 2: This set of math rings contains challenging word problems for students to read and either, determine whether the object or person in the problem is taller than or shorter than another object or person; or students must put objects or persons in order from shortest to tallest or tallest to shortest. There are 8 problems in each set and an optional recording sheet for each ring. Rings are to be cut and laminated so dry erase markers can be used to write directly on the cards. What is a lapbook?

A lapbook is a book made from a file folder that includes various information about a topic. Students can create a lap book by cutting, coloring (when needed), and gluing them inside a file folder. The finished file folder book is called a lapbook because the book is usually big enough to spread out on your lap to read.

Lapbooks do not come with specific assembly instructions. Students are to use the information to build their books creatively and uniquely! This is a fun way for students to learn and get hands-on with the information!
