Student 2 will decide the setting and then fold the paper down again. This will continue to student 3 and 4 where they will choose the conflict and the solution. Then the original student will get their paper back and open their paper and use their outline to create their own creative story. This makes the writing a little bit challenging as they try to create a story that was chosen by their fellow classmates. Group Creative Writing: Practice Character, Setting, Conflict, & Resolution
By E•Fish•ient Teaching
This is such a fun creative writing activity. This activity has students work in a small group to create a fun and unique story. They will be passing around their writing outline to their group of 5. The first student will choose a character and their characteristics. Then fold the paper down so the next student cannot see what they have written. This can also be a super fun and creative way to expand students writing by stretching them a little outside their comfort zone.

Paperless Picture of The Day Morning Meeting Work Digital Resources
By Professional Development and Teacher Prep
Do your students need highly engaging morning meeting digital resources or a picture of the day to start off their morning? Morning Meeting Picture Slides are important to utilize to develop strong relationships with students and peer-to-peer relationships. The picture of the day allows for deeper conversations and the building of a strong classroom community, which in turn raises academic achievement skills. The digital resource has many diverse pictures where everyone can feel represented.
How I Use Picture of The Day
We use a picture of the day every morning during our morning meeting routine. The morning meeting slides are projected on our screen for all students to see. Students are asked to infer, visualize, synthesize, and create connections with the picture. Looking closely at a picture is an important reading skill for students to develop to create inferences about what they are reading.
Additionally, The picture of the day can be used for writing prompts or centers. Students can look at the picture and write a story based on the picture.
This is also an excellent resource to use with your remote learners. You could assign one or more morning meeting slides to their learning management system for morning meetings and writing or reading activities.
“Morning Meeting is an engaging way to start each day, build a strong sense of community, and set children up for success socially and academically.” -Responsive Classroom
“Morning meetings are an excellent way to help students transition from home to school and help them get ready to learn. In addition, these meetings can help you connect with your students, help students build relationships with each other, and promote an overall sense of community in the classroom.” -Centervention

1: Brainstorming and Beginning to Write Paragraphs
Do your students have difficulty when asked to write? My students were overwhelmed by the thought of writing so we took a step back. It is important to remember to take time to plan, which includes brainstorming. This packet features 5 simple topics (cats, magical adventures, exploring a castle, recess, my hero) with thematic pages to help students consider what they know.
What is included?
Start by providing students with thematic pages to help them begin the brainstorming process. Select all or some of the pages & try to have fun.

2: Paragraph Practice - Identify introductions/conclusions, sort sentences, prompts
What are teachers saying? I love the colorful anchor charts to focus on each part individually. I also love that I can teach and students can practice each part of a paragraph individually before putting the whole thing together.

Do your students need some additional supports with paragraphs? My students were having difficulty with developing ideas that were on topic. They would write, however the materials didn't align. So, I made this as a practice to identify what things go together.

3: Writing Paragraphs by expanding your thoughts and adding supporting details
Do your students need some additional supports with expanding their thoughts when they are writing a paragraph? My students were having difficulty with developing ideas that were on topic & adding details to their writing. So, I made this as a practice to expanding their thoughts.
