Spanish writing prompts, especially when you make them into a group challenge, are a great way to get your Spanish 2, 3 or students writing, improving and learning from others!  

Your Spanish students will look forward to working together to create writing that meets and exceeds the standards you’re looking for!  Writing together allows peers to learn from each other and takes away some of the pressure when writing alone. Is there a Fall Feel in the air?  These Spanish fall activities will get your students talking, writing and listening about otoño, Halloween and Día de los muertos in an engaging way.  Practice both presentational and interpersonal speaking and writing while keeping students producing lots of Spanish! Give them comprehensible input with comprehension questions that are either open-ended or self-correcting MCQ!

Use these resources in all of your levels!  They’re already differentiated!  Those days when you’re just exhausted, progress reports were due, you were correcting benchmarks, when you need sub plans.... And now you don’t have a great lesson plan for tomorrow?  No worries!  These activities will get you through!  And best of all- students will be working hard in the target language and having fun!

The writing prompts are awesome!  They are differentiated for Novice High and Intermediate Low students.  Each level has 2 prompts; one about Halloween and another about Día de los muertos.  This resource comes with 

-vocab lists to students with season-specific vocab

-ideas for how to make this a group task (for less correcting for you!)

The Open-Ended Task Cards are also amazing!  They are so versatile and can be used in so many ways!  There are 20 different prompts related to fall themes and they encourage creativity with their language.  Vocab that may be unfamiliar is given right on the card!  Here are some ideas about how you can use them. 

-print them.  Pass them out to your class.  Ask each student to do a 10 minute free write.

You can assign the open ended questions (answer key included) or you can assign the Edpuzzle version with Multiple Choice Questions that are self-grading.

The Día de los muertos vocab puzzle is a great way to practice vocab related to this holiday.  Students use their mouse (or cursor) to manipulate digital puzzle pieces and match up vocabulary terms to put the puzzle together!

Vacaciones en España focuses on a trip to the beach town of Benidorm, on the West Coast of Spain.  This Google Slides presentation contains vibrant photos of real people, which makes it engaging for students.  Each slide comes with text to explain what they’re seeing. Within the presentation are links to reading, writing, speaking and listening activities.  This activity is great for a travel theme and when students are starting to learn the past tense! Avila is a similar format to Vacaciones en España. The Google Slides™ presentation contains original photographs from Ávila, Spain, a beautiful and medieval city to the north of Madrid. Each slide contains text taking students through Ávila’s past (its incredible walls, towers and cathedral) and present-day life with some views of the city!  The text is mainly written in both present and past (preterite and imperfect) and therefore is great for Years 2, 3 and 4. The Escape Room is a student favorite! It comes in a Spanish and English version, and students must follow the clues to help solve a crime.  The clues take them all around Spain where they will learn about various aspects of the culture.  Each clue they solve reveals the next clue! This is so much fun for students!  This activity is already differentiated and therefore appropriate for all levels of Spanish! Read more HERE.

The Authentic Listening activity is a great way to practice listening comprehension.  Students hear a native speaker describe why Medellin is considered the city of eternal spring!  The YouTube video is short so students won’t feel overwhelmed.  Comprehension questions and 

answer key are all included. 

The Spring Speaking Game forces students to use language creatively!  The game cards are in the shape of flowers, and each flower contains a word related to spring.  Students will help design the specifics of each round of the game, and the cards they hold are the ones they must use to create a story!  The game comes with Teacher Notes, Student Instructions, Color and Black and White printable game pieces, a score card and a vocab list.  Everything you need! Need a mini-unit on cultural identity for AP Spanish®?  Here you go!!  This product contains 5 different resources to help you and your students understand cultural identity.  First, there is a great resource for the teacher to read about what things make up our cultural identity.  There are 4 articles for students to read- a great jigsaw activity where groups of 4 each summarize an article for other students!  There’s an amazing audio about how language influences our cultural identity!  *It’s in English, but WELL worth it!  There are discussion questions for small group or whole class chats, and there is a project that asks students to explore one aspect of cultural identity in a Spanish-speaking country and compare it with the US.
