  5. What conditions should be put on the Southern states before they are allowed to return to the Union?

Whether the U.S. should feel threatened by communism in Vietnam? What do they want President Truman to do about the Vietnamese Declaration of Independence— support it, ignore it, oppose it? Whether the U.S. government should support the French?

Extension Activity #2: Song Analysis

  • Students will compare two defining songs of the Vietnam era; The Ballads of the Green Berets, & the War Song.

Extension Activity #3: What is a Whistleblower?

  • Students will analyze four individuals; all of whom revealed information about activity within a private or public organization that was deemed illegal, immoral, illicit, unsafe or fraudulent.
  • Students can delve further by referring to the Whistleblower Timeline,  and choosing a whistleblower to research (1700’s to contemporary times). Students will prepare a 3 to 5 minute class presentation.

This product on solar eclipses covers the following: Students will learn what a solar eclipse is, the three main eclipses that will be covered include - total solar eclipse, partial solar eclipse, and annular eclipse and how they are different from one another, cosmic coincidences and how eclipses are unplanned, facts about the Sun and Moon and how the Sun is larger than the Moon and how it looks smaller when it is farther away, what happens to the sky during a solar eclipse, what should be worn during a solar eclipse - solar viewers, how it is never safe to look at the sun, how often solar eclipses happen, when the last total solar eclipse was in the United States, Europe, and Spain for comparison, a map that shows the last total solar eclipse that the United States experienced, and a map that shows where the total solar eclipse will cover on April 8th, 2024. A review that includes facts about the Sun, Moon, Earth, and planets is included in this product.

Throughout the product, students will answer comprehension questions, fill in the blank questions when provided with a key, multiple choice questions, and will label diagrams to ensure comprehension as they are learning about the types of eclipses and the planets.

At the end of this product, students will have the opportunity to draw a picture of a total solar eclipse and will label the sun, moon, and Earth.

SUMMARY:

Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" Speech before a crowd of some 250,000 people at the 1963 March on Washington, remains one of the most famous speeches in history. Weaving in references to the country’s Founding Fathers and the Bible, King used universal themes to depict the struggles of African Americans before closing with an improvised riff on his dreams of equality. The eloquent speech was immediately recognized as a highlight of the successful protest, and has endured as one of the signature moments of the civil rights movement.

This 11th - 12th grade canonized work allows students to understand the need for standing up for equality and what you believe is right.
