$5 - $10 10th Grade Other (Social Studies & History) Resources (by price, low to high)

Using Exit Cards is an effective way to evaluate the progress each student. These can be used as Entrance or Exit cards depending on how it works best for you and your students. Which card is shared first, Entrance or Exit, is up to the teacher. The order is not dependent. Entrance cards are used for the purpose of helping students synthesize their learning. However, they can also be used as a formative assessment tool for the next day or week’s lesson. Teachers may place a prompt on the Entrance Card and provide time for students to think about their learning. This set includes 29 Exit Cards that can be used for any Social Studies lesson.

This lesson is easy enough for 5th graders to understand yet works well with students up to grade 12. Modifications can be made as needed.

This product was made for students to learn the following: that different people come to America, the first Americans - Indigenous Peoples, review of directions when going from one place to another in the world, what the first Americans ate, where they lived, what was used to build houses, how they found food, how they made tools and clothes, the first explorers, who the Vikings were, where the Vikings traveled, what colonies, a colony, and colonists are, how colonists and Indigenous Peoples lived on the same land, slaves, brief discussion of the Civil War, and immigrants coming to America to start a new life.

Adapted notes are provided along with an independent review after each slide. Students will be required to fill in the blanks using a key, answer short answer questions without a key, complete multiple choice questions, and look at a graph and answer short answer questions.

Students can complete the review independently, with support, or it can be used as an assessment as well.

Students will find this North America Scavenger Hunt motivating, and it will encourage students to examine the physical, political, economic, and cultural characteristics of North America, including Canada, the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Need a great introductory activity and a way to help students visualize landforms rather than implement the simple "write the word and definition" intro activity?

Give students the opportunity to acquire a mental picture of what each landform looks like by having them illustrate each landform based on the definition provided. This is a great way to assess their understanding of the description of each landform.

In addition, have students explore the world identifying examples of each landform and their locations by using maps, internet and other resources.

This is also a great tool for student evaluation at the end of the unit.

Need a great world geography activity for your continent of Africa study? These 24 Africa Task Cards are a great way to introduce the unit by having students work in cooperative groups centers or individually to read the task card questions and research the answers to each task card question as if it were a scavenger hunt. These may also be used at the end of the Africa Continent unit to evaluate what students gained during the unit. Display these task cards throughout the room and have students work on a timed rotation exploring the different aspects of Africa such as physical, political, cultural, and economic characteristics. Geography influences almost everything — yes, even the clothes we wear! Take a look at geography from a different and fun perspective: How does physical and cultural geography influence what clothes we wear, the materials that are used to make the clothes, and when we wear them throughout the day, etc? The learner will explore the influences of climate, location, temperature, culture, and topography of the fashion industry in Italy and other country regions.

The learner will build awareness about the environmental and cultural impacts of the fashion industry.

The learner will understand the value of clothing and the global resources required to create garments.

The learner will work cooperatively to demonstrate their understanding of geography fashion by designing clothing for a specific country region.

How can you tell if a country is considered developed or developing? What are the characteristics or socioeconomic indicators of a country that you look at to determine if they are developed or developing?

This is a high-level thinking skill lesson that requires students to be actively involved in their learning experience. This lesson discusses what determines whether a country is developed or developing. Students will work in groups to create graphs depicting socioeconomic indicators--such as life expectancy, literacy rate, annual income, available technology, and medicine,--for various countries. Students will analyze the graphs to determine if each researched country is considered developed or developing and why. This not only encourages students to think outside the box but also reintegrates basic graph reading skills needed for state testing. Students are actively involved in every aspect of this lesson.
