Students can view the video and write down answers in open-ended form, or they can watch the video in an EdPuzzle and answer the multiple choice questions. (Auto-graded, by the way!) The questions in this activity are written in Spanish, but the language level is basic and should be accessible to students from Novice High and up. The video itself presents Spanish slang terms with explanations in English. The viewing guides are fully customizable to be sure the questions are just right for your students!

Authentic listening activities for Spanish class can be so hard to find! We want our students to practice their listening skills but we don’t want to spend an hour searching for a good video! This YouTube video is about Medellín, Colombia, known as the city of eternal spring! A young person takes us around his city and highlights some of the best tourist attractions. To check comprehension, students will answer questions as they watch. Students will make comparisons and discover similarities and differences between their own experience and the speaker’s experience in Chile. An answer key is also included!

Día de los muertos is a holiday that fascinates our students! Use this Drag and Drop vocab puzzle to work WITH them instead of against them! Print or display the vocabulary list of terms related to the celebration of Day of the Dead. Then, let each student drag and drop the puzzle pieces to form a 4 x 3 puzzle that matches the Spanish words with their English translations. It’s not as easy as it looks!! But your students will be focused and learning new vocabulary the whole time!

AP Spanish Language and Culture® Unit 5 explores the factors that influence quality of life. Making reading comprehension for fun and interesting! Explore a trending vacation method by reading about Ecotourism! The article and follow up activities are provided and can be assigned digitally or in print form.

First, students will read a blog post about ecotourism in Panama. While they read, students will take notes on the important bullet points they read about. Next, students will write 6 comprehension questions on a separate page. Finally, they will write the answers to their questions on the same page where they took their notes. Either later in class or the next day, students will exchange their questions. Each student will answer the comprehension questions that another student wrote. This kind of activity leads to students paying more attention to detail in their reading and also in their question writing!

Students at the Intermediate Level or above

How can I use this product?

One reading; 2 activities! I love when I can take one source and use it in more than one way!
Students read and take their own notes about what's important in the article
They can demonstrate their own comprehension by creating good comprehension questions for a classmate
The second activity is answering another student's comprehension questions
Take it one step further: have students correct their classmates answers with their pre-made answer key! Have them work in pairs or small groups to clear up any confusions and ensure good comprehension.
Ask students to add new information to their "sources chart" for this unit so they may refer to it for an upcoming assessment
