Are you looking for a fun activity to help build collaboration skills while having some FUN? Need a Fun Friday activity as your students lose their engagement through the week? Need an activity with very little prep? Looking for something digital? Then look no further!

Mystery At The Theme Park is a video based Escape Room activity that is played with a YouTube Video (approximately 20 minutes) and answers are submitted on a Google Form. Students will have to watch the video, listen to the story, and look at pictures to find clues to escape from the Theme Park in time. There are many different ways that you could play this game whether it is as a full class and you try to beat the clock, or in small groups where students can work together to solve the puzzles! The Prep to play this Escape Room is minimal-all you need is the video link and a copy of the Google Form for each group. I played this game with my Grade 6/7 class online and they LOVED it. I had students who were usually pretty quiet online take over and shine!

Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this assignment, I did a demo and taught the class how to use a ruler and a yardstick. Measurements and Math was a strong focus of the lesson. Next, students spent the rest of the first lesson brainstorming an idea for a stencil (¼ of their full Mandala Design. I taught the students how to rotate their stencil to get a Radial Design. Students started on their Final Copy paper and outlined their drawing in sharpie marker. We used large windows to trace our stencils on the final. Students used colored pencils, colored sharpies, or watercolor paint to color their Mandala Design. I hope you and your kiddos love this! Advanced French Translation Challenge #4 - Video + PowerPoint

My series of Advanced French Translation Challenges is for intermediate through advanced level learners. Practically every grammar topic in my complete series which is available as a bundle. Note that I made these videos for my students, so I may make references to lessons that your students may not have learned.

The video is 11 minutes long, giving time for you or students to put the video on pause and to work on translations before going over them. I provide LOTS of grammar explanations. The video includes two substantial translations, English to French. You may choose to work on only one per session. I've included a PowerPoint version if you would rather not use the video and work through the translations with your students on your own.

Every sentence includes the grammar that your advanced students have been working so hard to master. When translating, it's interesting to compare sentence structure. This is an opportunity to observe sentences that students would really say, and to figure out how to do that in French.

Sentence diagramming is so helpful when teaching students parts of speech and sentence structure. The repetitiveness of diagramming for a bell ringer is extremely beneficial for students. I tried grammar workbooks for years, but my students hardly retained anything. Daily sentence diagramming made them remember their parts of speech, and was an amazing foundation for my students to have when we started forming different types of sentences. They picked up on fixing run-ons quickly as well because of their diagramming foundation.
