Christmas Quiz and Answer Grid for use with any class aged 14+ including Sixth Form/A Level. A fun activity which requires no PC’s, no programs, nothing other than pen and paper!
Each round has 10 questions, and participants can earn up to 50 points. The quiz is structured as follows:
Round 1: General knowledge with Christmas-themed questions.
Round 2: Picture round where participants identify prominent people from 2024.
Round 3: General knowledge questions.
Round 4: Picture round featuring cartoon characters.
Round 5: General knowledge questions.
The document includes all necessary materials to run the quiz, such as answer sheets and answers provided after each question. Participants can play individually or in teams, and the quiz is designed to be simple and fun.

There is no wonder why escape rooms are so popular; they are highly engaging and encourage people to work together and think creatively in order to solve different puzzles... all while trying to beat the clock! This meticulously-crafted resource features all of the materials you need to conduct a full-length Christmas-themed Poetry Escape Room. Planning an escape room may seem like quite the daunting task, but this product provides everything from the basics and set-up instructions to signs and answer keys so that yours runs smoothly from start to finish. The activity involves movement, energy, creative thinking and most of all, collaboration. All tasks are Language Arts skills-based so that with this fun lesson on a sugar-filled holiday, learning is not sacrificed. Your students will be having so much fun that they won’t even realize the higher order thinking skills they are applying in the playing of this game!
How does it work?
Your students are stuck in your classroom and cannot leave for Christmas vacation until they solve 5 challenging poetry-based tasks about Christmas!
- Festively Figurative: In the first task, students must identify the figurative language devices used in beautiful Christmas poems. Shaded boxes in the correct answers form the first code.
- Little Tree: In the second task, students must perform a close reading of the poem [little tree] by E. E. Cummings and fill in a poetic elements chart with correct answers about the poem. Shaded boxes next to the correct answers will reveal the second code.
- Rhyme Scheme: In the third task, students will read the first lines of 8 Christmas poems and identify the rhyme scheme of each excerpt. When the rhyme scheme cards are matched correctly, the code is revealed.
- The Oxen: In the fourth task, students must perform a close reading of the poem The Oxen by Thomas Hardy. The letters of the multiple choice questions about the poem will form the fourth code.
- Jig Saw Quote: In the final task, students must assemble a jig saw puzzle that forms a short Christmas poem. Once the puzzle is assembled and students answer the final question, they may escape to Christmas vacation!

This lesson is easy enough for 5th graders to understand yet works well with students up to 12th graders. Modifications can be made as needed.
A fun and exciting Christmas holiday geography project to engage students in learning about winter holidays and traditions around the world. Implement this activity days prior to Christmas break to keep your students motivated and learning. Make every moment a teaching moment!
Through this lesson, students will catch a glimpse into the life of another child, discovering how the winter holiday season is celebrated within their culture/country—whether it is Christmas, Kwanza, Ramadan, Hanukkah, or other winter holidays. Students will be introduced to various ways of life, from South America to Europe to Africa, and will gain an understanding of each winter tradition and celebration.
Students will Adopt a Friend for the holiday Kwanza/ Ramadan / Hanukkah season and will explore ways of life during the holiday season.
Note: (1) This is a research project. Will need a zip file reader to open the file.

Use this Christmas ornament writing activity to decorate your classroom tree and to get your AVID (or any content area) students in the holiday spirit! Students will choose 1 of the 8 mandala ornaments to decorate or create their own with the blank version provided. Then they will write about their greatest gift, cut and glue that to their ornament!

Directions:
- Students will choose a mandala ornament to decorate or use the blank one provided to make their own.
- After decorating their ornaments, students will respond to the prompt, "My greatest gift is..." using the writing-lined ornament.
- Next, students will cut out their mandala and writing ornament and glue the lined writing ornament to the back of their mandala ornament.
- Last, laminate and cut them out, hole punch the top, and add a string! Hang them on your classroom tree.

Spanish Christmas Ornament Mandala and "Mi mejor regalo es" Writing Activity

Use this Spanish Christmas ornament writing activity to decorate your classroom tree and to get your Spanish students in the holiday spirit! Students will choose 1 of the 8 mandala ornaments to decorate or create their own with the blank version provided. Then they will practice their Spanish writing skills while writing about their greatest gift and responding to the prompt, "Mi mejor regalo es." Afterward, they can cut and glue that to their ornament and hang them on your class Christmas tree or bulletin board!
What's Included:
- A PDF Document with 8 Mandala Ornaments for students to choose from
- Ornaments for responding to "Mi mejor regalo es..."
- One blank ornament for students to create their own mandalas
Directions:
- Students will choose a mandala ornament to decorate or use the blank one provided to make their own.
- After decorating their ornaments, students will respond to the prompt, "Mi mejor regalo es..." using the writing-lined ornament.
- Next, students will cut out their mandala and writing ornament and glue the lined writing ornament to the back of their mandala ornament.
- Last, laminate and cut them out, hole punch the top, and add a string! Hang them on your classroom tree or bulletin board display.

How does it work?
Your students are snowed in your classroom until they solve 5 Language Arts skills-based tasks about winter!
- MLA All Day: In the first task, students must fill in an MLA Works Cited Page with fictional winter sources (like "Snowflakes on Eyelashes" by Julie Andrews). Once completed correctly, letters within the sources will reveal the first code.
- Winter Wonders: In the second task, students will read 6 fun facts about winter. They must identify which of 6 comma rules each fact employs. When comma cards are matched correctly with the facts, shaded boxes reveal their second code.
- Figuratively Frozen: In the third task, students identify the figurative language devices used in excerpts from beautiful winter poems (like Winter's Artist by Suzanne Bates). Shaded letters in the correct answers form the third code.
- Frost's Woods: In the fourth task, students must perform a close reading of Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost, the perfect poem to study on a blustery day. Letters of the multiple choice question answers following the poem reveal their fourth code.
- Encrypted Message: In the final task, students must solve an encrypted message using the codes and clues from the first four tasks. The message is a provocative quote about winter by French philosopher, Albert Camus. Once they bring that to you, they may escape their snowed-in classroom!

How does it work?
It is Christmas morning and you have traveled all the way to London to visit your Uncle Scrooge. He is visibly shaken and tells you that he’s had a terrible dream about 3 ominous ghosts. He says that apparently he’s supposed to have learned some valuable lesson last night but he can’t remember what it is…. and if he can’t remember it by midnight, Christmas will be destroyed forever! The only way to escape the room and save Christmas is by solving 5 different skills-based puzzles about A Christmas Carol to help Scrooge remember the lessons he learned last night.
- Plot it Out: In the first task, students must order the major plot points of A Christmas Carol on Freytag's Pyramid. When ordered correctly, letters in the shaded boxes on the chart form their first code.
- VocaBah Humbug: In the second task, students must match the vocabulary words from A Christmas Carol with their definitions by drawing a line connecting them. Letters not intersected by these lines will form their second code word. Clue cards using the words in context are included.
- Criss-Cross: In the third task, students must complete a crossword puzzle about major plot points, characters, setting, figurative language, and quotes from the story. Circled letters within the crossword, once unscrambled, reveal the code.
- Say What: In the fourth task, students must match notable quotes with the characters who said them. When cards are matched correctly, the fourth code is revealed.
- Missing Word: In the final task, students must assemble a jig saw puzzle that forms a notable quote from the story with one missing word. Once the puzzle is assembled and students figure out the missing word, they may escape the room and save Christmas.

This may be the most meaningful and memorable lesson you teach in December!
This product features an engaging "Christmas Talk" activity that will have your students thinking, writing, collaborating, speaking, and moving around in one class period! In this activity, they must choose between 5 different quotes from famous figures about Christmas and articulate why the quote aligns with their own perspective about the holiday. I use this lesson every year during the week leading up to Christmas vacation to make sure that my students take some time out of their hectic lives to consider what Christmas truly means not to society, not to others, but to them.
