8th Grade Christmas, Chanukah, & Kwanzaa Lesson

This is a free social skills lesson focused on gift exchange. My Easy Social Skills Holiday lessons to explore and discuss each area to the best of your student’s ability. Students in your class will gain  a basic understanding of each other's likes and dislikes, as well as practicality in helping them learn how to thoughtfully choose gifts that reflect consideration, kindness and practicality. This Social Skills lesson is also perfect for Theory of mind and/ or Social problem solving.

A great Christmas holiday geography bingo activity to encourage learning and review basic geography concepts and skills Christmas week. This bingo game has a twist to it and will make learning fun and will engage your students. The provided 88 questions range from basic locations of countries and landforms to problem-solving questions.

But, if you don't want to use the set of questions provided, any set of trivia questions will work. Need to use this game as a review activity for term tests? Right in time for your Christmas instrumentalists, we present to you Mariah Carey's smash hit All I Want For Christmas is You - REMIX for BUCKET DRUMMING!

There are eight all-color coded slides along with the form identifiers listed next to each phrase. Discuss form with the students and teach them (by rote) the rhythms on the powerpoint with the corresponding repeats (most are grouped 3x + 1x with a few 2 and 4 measure repeats). Then, apply it to drums!

All regular notation is to be played on the buckets (or drums, or ground, however you wish), and the X notation (with a down stem) are played as stick clicks above their head (or you could apply it to a tambourine or other auxiliary instrument)

This lesson is easy enough for 5th graders to understand yet works well with students up to 12th graders. Modifications can be made as needed.

Students will be introduced to various ways of life, from South America to Europe to Africa, and will gain an understanding of each winter tradition and celebration.

Students will Adopt a Friend for the holiday Kwanza/ Ramadan / Hanukkah season and will explore ways of life during the holiday season.

Note: This lesson calls for the instructor to supply an artificial tree or cut a large human-sized tree out of butcher paper. Although, this activity can be modified so that the tree is not necessary.

By popular request, here's an arrangement of the holiday hit that'll sure to get your bucket drumming kids fired up, here's an advanced arrangement of Christmas Jam, by the Trans Siberian Orchestra!

There are three all-color coded slides along with the form identifiers listed next to each phrase. Discuss form with the students and teach them (by rote) the rhythms on the powerpoint with the corresponding repeats (most are repeated 2,3, or 7times). Then, apply it to drums!

All regular notation is to be played on the buckets (or drums, or ground, however you wish), and the X notation (with a down stem) are played as stick clicks above their head (or you could apply it to a tambourine or other auxiliary instrument)

This version differs from the standard version with the implementation of sixteenth note patterns (which is great to work on with your kids for alternating hands!)
