Social cues —both verbal and nonverbal— and body language are everywhere we look—often communicating more than words ever could. Sometimes, people need to “read between the lines” to fully understand the message. For students, the ability to recognize and correctly interpret both spoken and unspoken signals is an essential life skill. Save lots of money while shopping using coupons. This colorful, cheerful binder organizes your coupons and makes it easier for you to find just the right coupon you are looking for while out shopping.Teach your students or children in your household the value of saving money by saving coupons. Create your own coupon binder by using baseball card holders that you can find at many dollar stores or office supply stores. You can either use a two inch or three inch binder to set it up and place all your dividers in. There are two coupon sorting sheets available. Rather than flipping through the pages in your binder to insert coupons which can take a lot of time, you can use the coupon sorting mats. Once your coupons are all sorted then you can place them in your binder. Children of all ages can help with sorting the coupons. Many kids can also help out with gathering coupons and cutting them out. Have your students write about ways they can help their family save money. there are a couple of writing prompts that you could use to have your students share ways that they can help their families save money. • Students edit each box and type in an activity or experience they had over the summer. For example, "Went to the beach," "Read a book," or "Had a barbecue."

• Students continue until all text boxes are filled with different activities or experiences they had over the summer.

• Last, students find classmates who share the same activities or experiences listed on their Bingo card and write their names on the line.

How to Share a Forced Copy

• Open your Google Slides presentation.
• In the address bar, locate the URL. It should look something like this: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/your-presentation-id/edit.
• Replace the word "edit" at the end of the URL with "copy" (e.g., https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/your-presentation-id/copy).
• Share this new link with students. When they click on it, they will be prompted to make a copy of the presentation.

Do your students know how to properly make entries into a spreadsheet to keep track of their deposits and withdrawals? I have created an Excel and Google Sheets spreadsheet to make it easy for them. Each spreadsheet has 3 tabs - 1) showing them what I created, 2) a blank spreadsheets with headings, & 3) a black spreadsheet so they can follow the easy directions I have provided to create their own. What a great way for them to keep track of the money they receive, spend, and be able to balance their checking account!

On the main thumbnail, please download the specific directions to create their own spreadsheet. It is a learning experience in the area of financial literacy + they are gaining Excel and Google Sheets skills.

This social emotional learning lesson uses Sandra Cisneros's short story Eleven. During this SEL lesson, students read the short story, view a YouTube video, and reflect on their own stress responses. There are journal entries and opportunities for small and large group discussions as well.

This lesson has always been a favorite of my middle school students. The topic is enlightening for kids who have felt stress responses without understanding what is really happening in their brains and bodies (pretty much all kids). Eleven is a fantastic story to use when learning about stress response because readers are often frustrated by the way the main character responds to the stressor she faces. This is a great way to integrate SEL into an English class.
