Raising issues and setting boundaries in a respectful, non-confrontational manner can increase awareness of the situation, resolve conflicts, and prevent damaging relationships.

This resources features 6 highly relevant scenarios where students practice raising the uncomfortable issues presented to the person/people involved in a respectful, non-confrontational manner.

This resource features a total of 6 real-life, highly relevant scenarios that come in the following two variations (BOTH Print and Digital):

Variation #1 - Guidance Question/Statement- style - A worksheet that includes one scenario and four guidance questions in the form of statements to help them practice having productive, informative, and respectful courageous conversations in a non-confrontational manner. Students use these four (guidance) steps:

• (Facts) Explaining the issue to the person/people involved by focusing on the facts.
• (Feelings) Telling the person/people involved how the behavior makes them feel.
• (Expectations) Expressing reasonable change(s) you expect from the person/people involved.
• (Consequences/Boundary Setting) Communicating the consequences if the person/people involved do not change.

Most students have cell phones and communicate with family, friends, and classmates through text messaging. Just about ALL students are familiar with text messaging. Why not teach and practice social skills, kindness, empathy, effective communication, and SO MUCH MORE in such a way that appeals to their interests?! No student will be able to resist these activities - for real!

This resource includes a total of 12 Text Messaging Activity Worksheets that come in four different text messaging formats! There are three worksheets for each format, totaling 12 text messaging worksheets. Students are asked to read a text message, some longer than others, and respond appropriately. Responding appropriately to text messages despite feelings of anger, frustration, betrayal, etc. can greatly help students prevent conflicts from escalating and drama from arising. Additionally, these activities give students an opportunity to "FILTER THEIR THOUGHTS and MOUTHS"! They will ultimately understand the concept that it's not what is said, but how it is said. How/When To Use the Scenario Task Cards

⭐ Role-Playing: Students can collaborate in pairs or groups to act out a variety of scenarios and demonstrate appropriate responses. Role-playing activities can also be used to demonstrate how to appropriately handle or navigate difficult situations associated with anger and self-control. Students can practice and learn the variety of ways they can handle situations that test their ability to control their actions and behaviors. This activity can ultimately improve confidence, communication, and assertiveness skills.

⭐ Icebreaker: This can be a great way to start a meeting, training session, or team-building activity. It’s also a great way to get students to get to know each other and buy into the purpose of an upcoming activity or lesson.

⭐ Play Writing Exercise: Students can work in groups to create skits or scenes then perform the skits for the class.

⭐ Writing Response: Students can be given a scenario to read and then write their responses. Students can switch papers with a partner who then reads their responses and determines whether they agree/disagree with their responses/approaches to these real-life scenarios/ situations. They can evaluate whether or not their approaches to solving problems (despite feelings of anger, frustration, betrayal, etc.) is appropriate or inappropriate and offer other possible solutions and/or suggestions on how to best handle difficult situations and cope with these emotions.

⭐ Discussion: Students can discuss the Scenario Task Cards in groups or whole class. They can discuss things like "What can you do to control your emotions, behavior, actions, etc.", "What healthy coping skills can you use to calm down in situations that make you angry?", etc.

"How many siblings do you have?", etc. Instead, this resource includes questions that gives you access into your students' minds and develop an understanding of what their thinking is like, what their deepest thoughts are, how they feel about themselves, what makes them happy, what makes them sad, how they view and feel about themselves, something they often question about life, what keeps them up at night, etc.

These worksheets ask more higher level reflection questions that they have probably never considered like: "How do I view myself?" "What do I need to change about myself?" "What are my fears are?" "Do I love myself? Why or why not?" and "Something I wish I could have done differently" - type questions.

Yes, there are very few basic questions (as I considered lower-level students when creating these worksheets), but most questions are intended to capture students' inner thoughts and feelings about life and about themselves - the "REAL" them. It is crucial for students to acquire the skill of controlling their emotions in awkward situations and thinking before they speak. Our words possess the power to either uplift or damage people's self-esteem and confidence. While honesty is fundamental to lasting relationships, expressing true feelings should be approached with respect, care, and appropriateness.

This resource focuses on 12 scenarios related to "Filtering Your Thoughts." Students are tasked with reading each scenario and expressing their initial thoughts in writing. Subsequently, they are encouraged to "filter" these thoughts and communicate them verbally in a manner that is both appropriate and respectful, avoiding any harm to others' feelings. This provides students with chances to practice selecting their words thoughtfully, substituting negative thoughts and expressions with positive energy. Peer pressure can ultimately affect teens' decision-making, behaviors, attitudes, and outlook on life. It's often hard to navigate difficult situations and say no, especially when there is a strong human need to fit in and feel important.

This resource focuses on negative peer pressure, providing opportunities for teachers, educators, counselors, and parents to:

★ help students make better decisions when it comes to awkward or difficult situations

★ help students say "no" when they have to

★ help students set and communicate social boundaries
