How were they originally elected and what led to the changes in our system, leading to developing the Electoral College? It is essential that our students, as future voters, understand how our President and Vice President are elected every four years through the Electoral College. Students will explore, analyze, and summarize political parties using various avenues. In addition, they will look at the Electoral Process system and how events in history led to the ratification of the 12th Amendment. The lesson begins with a Road to the White House PowerPoint and Doodle Notes and a discussion, a student cooperative reading activity, a creation of the perfect candidate, and more.

In this product, students will learn about the 19th Amendment, what it is, the timeline as to how the 19th Amendment was put into effect and just how long it took. Information about the process it took and how it was rejected by different parts of the government is shared ranging from 1878 to the November 1920 election, what the women's suffrage movement was, who was involved, and what they did, President Woodrow Wilson, Harry Burn, Senator Aaron A. Sargent, Ellen Clark Sargent, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Susan B. Anthony and the role that each of them had in the passing of the 19th Amendment, students will learn about Congress - the Senate and the House of Representatives, and will briefly learn about the 3 Branches of Government to help students understand which branch helped pass the 19th Amendment, students will briefly learn about who was involved in World War I and what happened at the end of World War I, why women became involved in World War I, what their roles were in World War I, what jobs women had during this time, and how this lead to the 19th Amendment. Students will also learn about how the 19th Amendment in 1869 was different from 1920 and why, how the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was important as well as the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, students will also learn about when women could vote in 15 states from 1869 - 1918, and the first states to ratify the 19 Amendment.

The notes are adapted to meet your student's individual learning needs. Have your students see themselves through the lens of an investigator, exploring a complex and important inquiry…. ‘What factors caused the Great Depression’? Students, or your class investigators, will examine a variety of context clues and information that will help them solve this question. Students will identify the causal clues along with its effects, and then create a ‘LOOP’ (web) diagram that will serve to demonstrate their understandings of how these underlying causes interconnect with one another. This unit will prompt your students to become active learners in their pursuit of solving the mystery.

*This unit will have students explore dynamics of the 1920's, Great Depression, and the New Deal.

In addition, there are 3 optional extension activities to choose from:

1. Comparing advertising from the 1920's to today, and filling out a Venn diagram.
2. Listening to FDR's first fire side chat, and answering comprehension questions.
3. New Deal Matching Game: Analyzing & matching New Deal programs with the problems they attempted to address.

The 1920's, The Great Depression, The New Deal

Fun and exciting for all Ages - Middle School through High School

What a great way to review the geographical location of countries you study throughout the year! Students absolutely love countiries and continents Around the World game so much that they are disappointed that class is over. This world geography game has been played with my students throughout the year, usually at the later part of the year or end of the year, to reinforce students' recall of countries' geographical locations. As the intructor, I couldn't wait to play it with my students because I knew how much fun learning was going to be!

It is important for students to have a basic geographical understanding of the world around them. This game requires students to challenge each other by identifying the continents of each country presented.

Example: On which continent does Malaysia lie? On which continent does Madagascar lie? The student that is able to recall the location, moves on to travel "Around the World". This game moves quickly so that students are constantly involved and eager to participate, cheering one another on.

My students were required to learn where each country was located through study and map quizzes. It is important that students be able to identify the geographical location of each country so when they read/watch about current events, they have a geographical understanding of where the event is occurring in the world. Yes, they can always look it up, but are they going to?

Once you prepare the cards you can use them year after year.
