This product is a Scavenger Hunt of 14 people associated with 8th Grade U.S.History. Included is (1) History Mystery Introduction Sheets (2) History Mystery Answer Document (3) Who Am I Clue Cards, and (4) Character Placards.

It can be done as individuals, in pairs, or in groups. Each student or group will get a History Mystery Introduction Sheet with the answer document copied to the back. There are 14 different Introductory Sheets so students don't all start at the same place. When students find the Character Placard associated with their clue, they will write the name and letter on their answer document. They will then get a Who Am I clue card to find their next clue. I make several copies of the clue cards and place them by the Character Placards. *** It is important to make sure there is a planned out order to where you place the Who Am I cards so that students don't end up going to the same person twice.

Fun and exciting for all Ages - Middle School through High School

What a great way to review the geographical location of countries you study throughout the year! Students absolutely love countiries and continents Around the World game so much that they are disappointed that class is over. This world geography game has been played with my students throughout the year, usually at the later part of the year or end of the year, to reinforce students' recall of countries' geographical locations. As the intructor, I couldn't wait to play it with my students because I knew how much fun learning was going to be!

It is important for students to have a basic geographical understanding of the world around them. This game requires students to challenge each other by identifying the continents of each country presented.

Example: On which continent does Malaysia lie? On which continent does Madagascar lie? The student that is able to recall the location, moves on to travel "Around the World". This game moves quickly so that students are constantly involved and eager to participate, cheering one another on.

My students were required to learn where each country was located through study and map quizzes. It is important that students be able to identify the geographical location of each country so when they read/watch about current events, they have a geographical understanding of where the event is occurring in the world. Yes, they can always look it up, but are they going to?

Once you prepare the cards you can use them year after year.

Each resource includes two DBQ prompts which help students to weigh and evaluate the significance of women's actions, thoughts and contributions during the era.

A page near the end of each resource allows students to apply the HAPPY process to one source. An Answer Key to all the questions and the DBQs and the HAPPY process is available at the end of the packet.

This is excellent practice for all high school students, particularly Honors and AP students, but all students will find these resources engaging.

Students can read this on their own as a homework assignment or it can be a group activity in a classroom. It is also ideally suited for home-schoolers, college students or independent learners who want to learn more. Teachers can assign just a few sources to analyze or the entire packet. Student time will vary. A Worksheet with questions based on the reading is included, along with an Answer Key. Each resources can take up to 2-3 class periods depending on whether they complete the entire packet or just complete portions of it.

This product was made for students to learn the following:

In this product, students will learn about the Missouri Compromise, Compromise of 1850, and North and South Notes and Review. Vocabulary covered: raw materials, free states and slave states as of 1820, trains, factories, Eli Whitney, cotton, and slaves. A vocabulary review is included as well as a fill in the blank vocabulary review that includes a key.

Students will learn about the Missouri Compromise, Compromise of 1850, and North and South Notes and Review. The United States government will be initially reviewed to review who Congress and the Senate is, but the House of Representatives and the three branches of government. The North and South are reviewed in this product that includes the years between 1820 - 1860.

The North: What was used at this time to run machines, who owned machines, how machines were powered, how and why cities started to develop, how raw materials and factories relate with one another, the use of the railroad brought factory products to people, working conditions in factories, and changes in cities that took place

The South: Cotton was growing on plantations and farms in the South, who worked on these plantations, how plantations grew and who worked on these farms, who invented the cotton gin, what the cotton gin did and how it was different from removing seeds by hand and how much time was saved, what cotton was known for in the South, who worked on plantations and how they were treated, and the kind of work slaves were required to do in the South.

The Missouri Compromise:

In 1820, how many states were free states and how many states were slave states. The argument that the North and South had with each other about wanting Missouri to be on their side and why, what people wanted in the North and what people wanted in the South after the Missouri Compromise, why the North and South were divided, which states became free states and slaves states between 1820-1850, the Compromise of 1850 and what it entailed, and when slavery ended.

The notes are adapted to meet your student's individual learning needs. Throughout the product, after each page of notes is reviewed, students will answer short answer comprehension questions. At the end of the product, students are provided with a review that includes multiple choice questions and short answer questions.

This is a scavenger hunt using task cards that analyzes the United States westward expansion during the Manifest Destiny period and the displacement of the Native Americans during this time which is studied in the 7th grade curriculum under the following standards:

• 7.6 Driven by political and economic motives, the United States expanded its physical boundaries to the Pacific Ocean between 1800 and 1860. This settlement displaced Native Americans as the frontier was pushed westward.
• 7.6a Conflict and compromise with foreign nations occurred regarding the physical expansion of the United States during the 19th century. American values and beliefs, such as Manifest Destiny and the need for resources, increased westward expansion and settlement.
• 7.6b Westward expansion provided opportunities for some groups while harming others.

This resource begins by challenging students with a mission, complete the tasks to solve the mystery word and four digit code to travel westward to California to try to strike it rich in the Gold Rush; failure will result in potentially perishing along the way due to disease, food shortages, conflicts with the Native Americans, etc. Check out the preview to see what each task card entails. Students will need to walk around the room reading the task cards. Each task card has a code word on the bottom which is the answer to the question/fill in the blank. The answer will NOT be found on that same task card. For example, the answer to task card #1 is found by reading the passage on task card #8. Students MUST record which task card they found the answer on in their answer sheet under the “FOUND CARDS #” column. That column will be used at the end for the 4 digit lock code. They will follow the clues to find the correct 4 digit code. Once they have completed the scavenger hunt they will receive a half sheet of paper stating that they have made it to California and struck it rich during the Gold Rush!

This activity would be a great review before assessments, as a center activity, a group activity, etc. Students will be engaged with the learning while having a fun time trying to solve all of the clues!

This Great Depression activity will make learning fun with this engaging, hands-on task card escape room. This activity includes 16 task cards that are broken down into 4 levels or puzzle types, giving students a chance to practice nonfiction reading comprehension skills while actively decoding puzzles.

Lead your students to discover information about The Great Depression by exploring it on their own before teaching or have them use it to review information. Students will answer questions that can be found directly in their reading passage, so there is no prior knowledge needed.

The lesson involves movement, energy, creative thinking and most of all, collaboration. All tasks are Language Arts skills-based so that with this engaging lesson, learning is not sacrificed; in fact, students will come away with it with a greater understanding about the importance of this holiday.

How does it work?

Your students will work to complete 4 Language Arts-based tasks about Memorial Day in order to learn more about this important holiday and about the veterans of our proud country.

• Memorial Day Fun Facts: In the first task, students will read 8 facts about Memorial Day and must identify the parts of speech of underlined words within the passages.

• Not to Keep: In the second task, students will perform a close reading of "Not to Keep" by Robert Frost and answer questions about the poem about a soldier who must return to war.

• Sing it Loud: In the third task, students will read 7 passages from patriotic songs and must identify the incorrectly used homophones in each passage.

• Word Maze: In the fourth task, students must complete a word maze and collect the letters they find along the path. Then they must input the codes from all four tasks into a final sentence and bring to the teacher to complete the activity!

This resource goes beyond having students simply take notes and restate the different causes leading to the American Revolutionary War.
