Objective: The objective of the game "Oops" is to get your teammates to guess a word without using certain pre-defined words or phrases associated with it - these are called "Oopsies"

Gameplay:

1. The clue giver selects a number from the selection board, revealing the word to be described as well as the "oopsies" associated with it.
2. The clue giver must then describe the word without using any of the "oopsies".
3. The guessers on the team try to guess the word based on the clues given. The guesser sits with their back turned to the slide, while the clue giver faces the slide.
4. The guesser can make as many guesses as they want within 1 minute.
5. If a teammate guesses the word correctly, the team earns a point. However, if the clue giver uses an "oopsie," they forfeit a point.
6. After the minute is up or the word is correctly guessed, play passes to the next team.
7. Play continues back and forth until all the slides have been used or a set number of rounds has been completed.
8. The team with the most number of points wins.

What grade level:

I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from Kindergarten to Grade Three will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the texts with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills. Core French teachers will be sure to add the resource to their repertoire for Grades 4 to 6 as they learn to read and write at the Junior level.

• Students will use the provided Roll a Monster Story Board and follow the directions to create a story chain within a group of 3.
• Students will follow the Mnemonic Study Song Project Requirements to create a mnemonic or study song that helps them remember key concepts from recent notes in a core class to help them prepare for an upcoming test or quiz.
• Students will follow the Halloween or Thanksgiving Team Building Project Requirements to create a Halloween or Thanksgiving-Themed team-building activity with a partner.

• Students will calculate their GPA using the provided link. Then choose the class with the lowest grade and set a SMART goal on the Turkey SMART Goal page.
• Students will follow the Themed Graphic Organizer Project Requirements to create a Fall, Thanksgiving, or Halloween-themed graphic organizer and fill it in with information from recent class notes.
• Students will practice taking Cornell Notes over one of the provided articles.

Reading

• Students read the spooky story, "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson. Then fill in the vocabulary awareness chart and include definitions in their own words.
• Students reread the spooky story, "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson. Then answer the provided reflection questions.
• Students read a book of their choice for 30 minutes and complete a digital one-pager over what they read. Make sure to follow the requirements in the template.
• Students read the Summary vs. Reflection: The Forgotten Room slides, and respond to the questions using the text boxes.
• Students choose their favorite fall poem from the provided website. Then follow the assignment instructions to reflect on the poem they chose.

In this product, students will learn the sign and English vocabulary word for the 80 different back-to-school vocabulary words presented.

This product can be used with students who are learning English and/or sign language. It can serve as an in class practice, review, or quiz.

In the first section of the product, students will learn the English word, the sign of each back-to-school vocabulary item, and the back-to-school vocabulary word is used in a sentence. Students will be able to write the name of the back-to-school vocabulary word in their native language. A picture is also included to represent each back-to-school vocabulary word. At the end of this section, students will have the opportunity to choose 8 back-to-school vocabulary words and make up a sentence using each one, and students will have the opportunity to answer short comprehension questions about going back-to-school.

In the second section of the product, there is a dictionary provided that includes the English word, the sign, and a picture showing each back-to-school vocabulary word presented.

In the third section of the product, students can review what they learned based on the sign, sentence, and picture that are included for each back-to-school vocabulary word provided. Students will then be required to write the vocabulary word in English.

In the fourth section of the product, students can review what they learned based on the sign and picture that are included for each word provided. Students will then be required to write each back-to-school vocabulary word in English on each line and make up a sentence using the back-to-school vocabulary word presented.

In the fifth section of the product, students can review what they learned based on the sign and picture that are included for each word provided. Students will then be required to write each back-to-school vocabulary word in their native language on each line and make up a sentence using the back-to-school vocabulary word presented.

This resource is a back to school digital escape room that has three rooms with 10 codes to decipher in each. Students will use a pigpen cipher, emoji code and letter wheel to solve 30 total coded words that are all school related. As students solve the codes, the picture of a lock next to the answer will automatically open. When all 10 coded words have been answered correctly, a key will pop up automatically at the bottom of that page. As students collect these keys, they will appear on the first Google Sheet Page labeled "Directions and Key Collection Page." When all three keys have been collected, a message saying "You Did It!" will appear on the Directions and Key Collection Page.

Students will navigate from room to room using the bottom tabs on the Google Sheets pages labeled:

This meticulously-crafted resource features all of the materials you need to conduct a full-length Back to School Poetry Escape Room. Planning an escape room may seem like quite the daunting task, but this product provides everything from the basics and set-up instructions to signs and answer keys so that yours runs smoothly from start to finish. The activity involves movement, energy, creative thinking and most of all, collaboration. All tasks are skills-based so that with the escape room, learning is not sacrificed; in fact, your students will come away with a stronger understanding of poetic terms and devices. Your students will be having so much fun that they won’t even realize the higher order thinking skills they are applying (and the number of poems they have analyzed) in the playing of this game!

How does it work?

The ghosts of Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allan Poe, Langston Hughes, William Shakespeare, and Maya Angelou have risen from the grave to lock your students inside your classroom. They are upset because they believe that students spend too much time talking about (fill in the blank with whatever is hip with students these days) and not enough time reading and writing poetry. Students cannot escape until they complete 5 poetry-based tasks to show these ghosts of poets past that they do in fact know their poetry.

• Watch Your Tone: In the first task, students will read 6 poem excerpts and identify their tone. When cards are matched correctly, shaded letters will reveal the code.
• Rhyme Time: In the second task, students will read 8 poem excerpts and determine the rhyme scheme of each. When cards are matched correctly on a chart, numbers on the cards will reveal the code.
• Poe's Anatomy: In the third task, students will closely read A Dream by Edgar Allan Poe and complete an anatomy of the poem. When completed correctly, shaded letters within the answers will reveal the code.
• Ah-Mazing: In the third task, students must solve a challenging word maze. Letters collected along the way form the fourth code.
• Complete the Quote: The final task brings the first four tasks together. Students must match the code words with their definitions and complete a quote about poetry.
