For this assignment, I asked students to make a Geometric Shapes Collage showing squares, rectangles, triangles, and/or circles. Students get to choose three of their favorite colors to work with. Students choose which colors go on top the base color papers. Students learned folding, cutting, gluing, and placing (overlapping) skills during this 1-to-2-Day Art Unit. This creative Line Movement Painting Unit was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this assignment, I asked students to draw 5-10 lines with different movements. After drawing these lines, students outlined them with a crayon. Students painted each section with a different color of watercolor paints. This assignment is an excellent opportunity for students to get better with their painting skills. Students are responsible for two separate artworks for this assignment. Students were asked to draw 15-30 large flowers all over their paper. Students were allowed to paint the flowers with any colors they wanted. When the artwork was dry students outlined all the flowers with a black sharpie marker. Some collage skills were added to the assignment at the end of the unit when students needed to cut/glue down strips of construction paper to the bottom of the Final Copy Field of Flowers, to look like fence posts. The sunshades will have designs and details that also help describe themselves to others. Materials will be mainly colored pencils and crayons. This is a 4–5-day assignment. Do I have to print out the game materials for every kid?

Nope! You ONLY have to print out the answer sheet for each kid or group. Just one set of the actual puzzles is all you need! If you choose to use the digital version to save paper and ink, then you will only need to print the QR codes for the Mission (get the kids to scan and read this first), Hint Cards and Puzzle Tasks 1-9.

Do I have to print out the Mystery Door for the game?

Nope! I suggest that you show the picture of the door + QR code on your phone or laptop for pupils to scan and enter their 4-digit secret code. You can also use an actual lock where the kids can actually enter the 4-digit secret codes to complete the game.

WHAT DO I NEED AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

All you need is to print the puzzles, mission, and recording sheets. No other prep is required! You will then pass out the recording sheets, mission, and puzzles (or scatter the puzzles around for players to find). Keep the hint cards and answer key to yourself and guide players as needed. That’s it!

Teaching students how to make good choices, as well as the difference between good choices and poor choices is crucial. Teach children decision-making skills and how to make good choices with this cut and glue puzzle activity for elementary students.
