Celebrate St. George's Day with these low prep activities. Great as a lesson starter, ideal for preteaching vocabulary. Suitable for primary schools and ESL / EFL classes.

• 1 trimino puzzle - it teached 21 St. George's Day related vocabulary

How to use Trimino puzzle:

Simply print out and cut up the puzzle pieces and let your pupils put them back together. Students need to match the word with the correct picture.

Print out a few puzzles and turn it into a competition. Whoever resolves the puzzle first, wins. It can be also played in teams.

The first lesson is interactive and involves students cutting out facts, and then sorting these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the students need to use these facts to write four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson children need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions on a prompt sheet before writing up their conclusion. In the final lesson students need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on to a neat copy on the template provided.

A King Henry VIII Escape Room activity. Ideal for fifth grade or sixth grade, the activity is perfect for group work, starting a new topic on British History, team-building activities or for a fun, engaging and interactive lesson. The activity can be used in English class as it incorporates some ELA skills or in Social Studies.

The activity has been split into four different tasks; your students will need to complete each of the tasks to reveal a word. Together the four words make a phrase for them to escape the room.

In Task 1 students will read an informational text about King Henry VIII and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.

In Task 2 students will use the same informational text to complete a crossword puzzle. Within the puzzle there are several hidden letters which will need to be unscrambled on the completion of the puzzle to reveal the second word.

In Task 3 students will have to cut out 27 timeline task cards about important historical events from the 1500s before putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their task they can glue them onto the answer key which will reveal their third word.

In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word.

Students can then complete their student answer key with the four words they revealed before checking with the teacher to see if they have escaped successfully.

The first lesson is interactive and involves them cutting out facts, and then sorting these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the children need to use these facts to write four paragraphs. Then, in the final lesson your class will need to use the format provided to write an introduction for the text before checking their draft paragraphs for mistakes and writing up their work into a neat copy on the template provided.

If you would like your class to look at the Industrial Revolution in more detail, the Children of the Industrial Revolution Reading Comprehension activity adds a further lesson.

A BOOM Cards™ Escape Room Activity about the previous monarch of the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II. The self-marking, NO PREP activity is ideal for distance learning and perfect for students in fifth grade or sixth grade.

For first time BOOM Card™ users, the resource comes with an explanation of how to assign the cards to your class, and has lots of useful links to support you using the activity.

In Task 1 students will read an informational text about Elizabeth II and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.

In Task 2 students will complete a crossword puzzle by answering ten questions. Answering these questions correctly will reveal some hidden letters which need to be unscrambled to reveal the second word.

In Task 3 students will sort 27 timeline task cards about the 1900s, putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their third word will be revealed.

In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word. All of the BOOM Cards™ activities are self-marking.
