GEOGRAPHY THUMBPRINTS: A CHARACTER ANALYSIS OF A PERSON, CHARACTER, COUNTRY, OBJECT, EVENT

This lesson, although written for geography, is not subject-specific and is adaptable to any subject or topic — history, ancient studies, book studies or any time you are studying a person, character, country, object, or event. Use this character analysis to explore people, reading characters, historical characters or people, events, countries, and objects. No, an object, country, or event does not have feelings, but what if they did? How would they feel? What would they see? What would they hear? What would they say? Encourage your student to think outside the box and stretch their minds and higher-level thinking skills.

The "Can you guess the Career" activity is a fun and interactive experience designed to engage and educate students in grades 3-5. This activity aims to help young learners explore various career options while improving their critical

This SEL lesson includes 56 scenario cards which explores key themes of mental health. Through this social emotional learning activity, students are encouraged to reflect and gain insight on mental health themes and explore helpful coping strategies to support good mental health. In addition, a one page handout about What is Mental Health is included to initiate discussion about mental heath.

The Steps:

1. A central statement will be announced to the class and we will define the two sides

of the debate (Agree/Disagree).

2. You will move to the side

of the room with the position that you intend to defend.

3. A timer will be set for 5 minutes, and the debate will start between the two groups.

4. Be concise and attempt to keep you contributions to less than 30 seconds each. The goal is to have an up-tempo debate, where the arguments for and against the prompt are batted back and forth with quick, verbal strokes. When the timer goes off, the conversation is immediately over.

5. A new prompt is displayed and we start another round of quick debates.
