Greek Gods Scavenger Hunt (No Prep!)

This is a scavenger hunt using task cards that is based on Greek Gods which are part of what that are studied in the 6th grade curriculum within Comparative Classical Civilizations in the Eastern Hemisphere for Ancient Greece. This resource begins by challenging students with a mission, complete the tasks to solve the mystery word and four digit code to have the Greek Gods offer you immortality and a seat in Mount Olympus. Students will read about Zeus, Poseidon, Hermes, Hera, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Hephaestus and Demeter. This activity will have students reading about each Greek God; their symbols, what they were god of, and their importance to Ancient Greek. Check out the preview to see what each task card entails. Students will need to walk around the room reading the task cards. Each task card has a code word on the bottom which is the answer to the question/fill in the blank. The answer will NOT be found on that same task card. For example, the answer to task card #1 is found by reading the passage on task card #8. Students MUST record which task card they found the answer on in their answer sheet under the “FOUND CARDS #” column. That column will be used at the end for the 4 digit lock code. They will follow the clues to find the correct 4 digit code. Once they have completed the scavenger hunt they will receive a half sheet of paper stating that they have received immortality and their seat in Mount Olympus.
This activity would be a great review before assessments, as a center activity, a group activity, etc. Students will be engaged with the learning while having a fun time trying to solve all of the clues!
American Revolutionary War Scavenger Hunt (No prep!)

This is a scavenger hunt using task cards that is based on the causes of the Revolutionary War that aligns with the 4th grade curriculum but would work for grades 3-5. Students will read about the Declaration of Independence, the Boston Tea Party, The Boston Massacre, Taxation without Representation, and the Intolerable Acts. Check out the preview to see what each task card entails. Students will need to walk around the room reading the task cards. Each task card has a code word on the bottom which is the answer to the question/fill in the blank. The answer will NOT be found on that same task card. For example, the answer to task card #1 is found by reading the passage on task card #8. Students will read about Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, Samuel Cornish, William Lloyd Garrison, Sojourner Truth, John Brown, Abraham Lincoln, Susan B. Anthony and Harriet Beecher Stowe. This activity will have students reading about how each individual aided the abolition movement. Check out the preview to see what each task card entails. Students will read about Christopher Columbus, Juan Ponce de León, Jacques Cartier, John Cabot, Henry Hudson, Giovanni da Verrazzano, Hernando de Soto, and Samuel de Champlain. This activity will have students reading about what country the explorer sailed for, what part of the Americas they explored and how their exploration affected later colonization or knowledge of the Americas.
