Celebrate Women History Month using this set of 7 of the most influential or Famous Women in Sports Reading Comprehension Passages. The passages are designed for students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Each passage features a short biography of a famous female athlete, followed by 8 multiple-choice questions that test the student’s understanding of the text.

The passages cover a range of sports, such as tennis, boxing, racing, the Boston Marathon, and soccer. The women in sports included in this set are:

• Mia Hamm: A soccer legend who won two World Cups and two Olympic gold medals, and became the all-time leading scorer in international soccer history.
• Wilma Rudolph: A sprinter who overcame polio and racism to become the first American woman to win three gold medals in a single Olympics.
• Serena Williams: A tennis superstar who has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, four Olympic gold medals, and numerous awards and honors.
• Billie Jean King: A tennis champion and activist who fought for gender equality and social justice on and off the court.
