This resource allows you to start having open and honest conversations regarding cell phone safety. Images of cell phones with relatable messages for students to relate to. They'll get to read the message and decide if it's safe or not. Students will also get to brainstorm the positives and negatives of owning a cell, and brainstorm rules they feel they should follow in order to be safe and responsible online. Students will learn about sports safety, why it is important, what is needed to remain safe when playing different sports, what to do when an emergency call has to be made, what questions to be prepared to answer when making an emergency phone call, what could be in a first aid kit, what to do when someone experiences shock, symptoms of shock, and how to handle a situation when someone is in shock, taking a pulse - how to do it, how to figure out someone's pulse, and where a person's pulse can be taken, what to do when someone is unconscious, how someone could become unconscious, and what to do with someone's body if they are unconscious while you wait for help to arrive, putting on a bandage if you or someone else is injured and the steps to take, first aid procedures for small and deep cuts, scrapes, and nosebleeds, how to treat injuries, how to stop nosebleeds, what to do if you have an open blister, what to do if you have a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd degree burn and how they differ from each other, information on how to handle sprains, strains, and burns, and what to do if someone is choking and the Heimlich Maneuver needs to be done.
After each section, students will fill in the blanks when given a key with the missing vocabulary words, answer short answer questions, or fill in the blanks based on the previous page on each topic to review.

Coupon Binder Green/Gray Save $$$ for your Family

Save lots of money while shopping using coupons. This colorful, cheerful binder organizes your coupons and makes it easier for you to find just the right coupon you are looking for while out shopping.Teach your students or children in your household the value of saving money by saving coupons. Create your own coupon binder by using baseball card holders that you can find at many dollar stores or office supply stores. You can either use a two inch or three inch binder to set it up and place all your dividers in. There are two coupon sorting sheets available. Rather than flipping through the pages in your binder to insert coupons which can take a lot of time, you can use the coupon sorting mats. Once your coupons are all sorted then you can place them in your binder. Children of all ages can help with sorting the coupons. Many kids can also help out with gathering coupons and cutting them out. Have your students write about ways they can help their family save money. there are a couple of writing prompts that you could use to have your students share ways that they can help their families save money. This does not necessarily mean just using coupons. It could mean saving money by turning off the lights when not in use, not taking long showers, or turning in cans for redemption. Some kids might write about a job they do such as a paper route, mowing the grass or shoveling snow. Some students might choose to discuss buying items on sale at the store and not demanding expensive name brand items."Older students can work on the total amount of savings from using coupons. They can also work on figuring out percentages to show how much money is saved during each shopping trip and totals for each month. Positive Self Talk Social Emotional Learning Lesson

In this product, students will be provided with a list of positive words and will choose 10 positive words that describe themselves. Students will then narrow that list of 10 positive words down to 3. They will explain why that word describes them. Students will answer questions about themselves - Example: What is your favorite color? What is your favorite hobby? etc., Students will then describe themselves - what color eyes they have, what color their hair is, what their favorite thing about themselves is, what is something they want to improve on, etc. Students will draw a picture of themselves, and complete the activity of choosing a mirror, printing it out and putting a picture of themselves in the mirror and can share what they like about themselves. This product can be used independently or when students are working in a group. Students can keep their responses private or can share them with their peers.
Making Mistakes Social Stories

When students are reading each story, they will review how the characters handled the mistakes that they made.

This product reviews the importance of visiting the dentist, when children start losing their teeth and why they lose teeth (to make room for permanent teeth), how many teeth children lose and how many permanent teeth there are, what happens when children lose teeth (the tooth fairy may visit), how to prevent cavities, how to care for your teeth - how many times a day you should brush your teeth, how long you should brush your teeth for, and how often you should floss your teeth for each day, pictures of dental tools that are used in a dental office along with their labels, and anatomy of a tooth.
Students will answer short answer, multiple choice, and fill in the blanks using a key comprehension questions are included in this product that relate with the information that is shared throughout the product. Students will also share their experiences with caring for their teeth, losing a tooth, and visiting the dentist. Students will also have the opportunity to label the anatomy of a tooth and draw diagrams and experiences.

This lesson has always been a favorite of my middle school students. The topic is enlightening for kids who have felt stress responses without understanding what is really happening in their brains and bodies (pretty much all kids). Eleven is a fantastic story to use when learning about stress response because readers are often frustrated by the way the main character responds to the stressor she faces. This is a great way to integrate SEL into an English class.
