Looking for a** Lunar New Year**-themed, engaging and informative reading comprehension activity? This scavenger hunt is designed to help students practice skim reading, looking for context clues, and learn some useful vocabulary.
It’s perfect for EFL / ESL students at the B1/B2 level and can also be used for native English classes at grade levels 5 - 7. With low prep, just print and hang, it contains 10 reading passages about Chinese New Year traditions.
The scavenger hunt is designed so that students have to revisit and reread the reading passages multiple times when looking for code words. The answer to each question is located on a different reading passage card. Once students have answered all the questions, they unscramble the letters to reveal the final answer - the name of the murderer.

New Year's Resolution Sentence and Picture Booklet

In this product, students will review New Year's Eve/Day vocabular. There are two templates in this product. The first template allows students to write their answer and draw a picture or cut and paste a picture card provided on each page of the booklet. The second template allows students to cut and paste picture a picture card provided as their answer.
On each template, students will answer 10 questions about resolutions/goals they have for the coming year. On the page after each question, will be a section of pictures that students can choose from to answer each question.
This product can also be laminated. The picture cards can be cut out and Velcro can be applied to each one so it can be used again. Students can use a dry erase marker to write responses if product is laminated.
