Beyond the primary grades teachers often seem to forget about checking students reading fluency. This is a simple to use form for students to provide themselves a self-feedback on their read aloud fluency. Teachers can then use the same form to provide their own feedback on the students reading fluency. File states to use Audacity (a free download online) but other recording programs/devices may be used - this is just a personal choice/what is available on our school computers. This page provides you with a simple way to write anecdotal notes as you wander around the room observing your students working. This form is completely customizable allowing your to insert the goal, grade, term etc. There is space for each students name and a line for your comments/observations. This form is not subject specific.

I was getting frustrated trying to find texts to support my biodiversity unit, and was finding my students could truly only find pertinent, engaging information by researching. What I had at my disposition was outdated; or didn't particularly touch on diversity, or was overly focused on specific species of animals... It simply wasn't cutting it. I wanted to teach with a cross-curricular approach and integrate biodiversity-themed readings in with my language arts program. Ta-Da!
