The passages include:
- The Legend of St. Patrick This passage tells the story of how St. Patrick became the patron saint of Ireland, and how he used the shamrock to teach people about Christianity.
- Traditions of St. Patrick’s Day This passage explains the origin and meaning of some of the common symbols and customs of St. Patrick’s Day, such as wearing green, eating corned beef and cabbage, and parading in the streets.
- The Folklore of Leprechauns This passage describes the characteristics and behavior of leprechauns, the mischievous fairies who guard pots of gold at the end of rainbows.
Each passage is followed by 10 multiple-choice questions that test the student’s understanding of the passage. Answer keys are also included.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Mystery picture
♣ Print out 1 mystery picture per student.
♣ Students cut up the answer tiles and then place them on the correct question tiles to match the words with the definitions.
♣ They can glue the question tiles onto the answer tiles and color the picture too.
St. Patrick's Day Sudoku
♣ Print out 1 sudoku per student.
♣ Students cut off the right side of the sheet along the dotted line and cut out the missing sudoku pictures. They glue them into the sudoku grid so that all 6 words appear in each row, column and 2x3 frame.
♣ Each word must appear in each row, column and 2x3 frame only once.
♣ Check with the whole class - students have to name in English all pictures in the given row, column or 2x3 frame.

La Saint Patrick - French Dots and Boxes Activity
An easy and fun no-prep game that will elicit a lot of exposure to 24 different St. Patrick's Day French themed words. This is a one-page dots & boxes game including directions. This game could be laminated and used repeatedly with dry-erase markers or played on an iPad with annotation/whiteboard tools.
Objective: Complete more boxes than your opponent. Each player draws lines using a different color. On your turn, make a horizontal or vertical line from one dot to another. Say the words on either side of the line you drew. If you complete a box on your turn, draw an X in the box using your color. Once all of the boxes have been completed, count to see who got the most.
