Feasting with Famous Figures - Thanksgiving Holiday - Social Studies Project

A fun and engaging Thanksgiving (or anytime!) project for any social studies class!
Thanksgiving is finally here, and as your students are about to find out, this Turkey Day will be unlike any other. For this year’s feast, you’re inviting three special guests who will travel through time to join you! In this Thanksgiving-themed biography project, students will research the lives of three historical figures, plan out the perfect Thanksgiving dinner, and reflect on what each of their famous guests would be thankful for this holiday season!
Students will create a poster or digital presentation to discuss their historical figures and their Thanksgiving feast!

Disguise a Turkey - MIddle School Edition Help your older students celebrate Thanksgiving with this "Disguise a Turkey" craft that's designed for middle school aged children. They'll love disguising the turkey as one of them so it doesn't get eaten this Thanksgiving!! Help the turkey blend in by designing and cutting out a hoodie, and choose from an assortment of hats. Tom the turkey will blend right into middle school!
Thanksgiving Dinner POV Writing Activity This activity includes 2 options: students will draw and label what they're eating for Thanksgiving dinner, then they can either write using the point of view of what's on their plate, using the thoughts and feelings of each item on their plate. Or, students can draw and label their ideal Thanksgiving dinner and include their all-time favorite foods, and then write about their choices on the writing page.

In this lesson, students reflect on people and things they are thankful for and create a presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides to showcase that information. This lesson encourages students to think about the positive things in their lives and promotes being grateful for what they have. The lesson includes links to tutorials for Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Slides to assist students with the presentation.
This is a great activity for any class during the Thanksgiving holidays. This lesson was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could be used in upper elementary grades or high school as well.
