Looking for a quick, easy and fun no-prep game to use when teaching present tense avoir with and without negation? This is a one-page dots & boxes game that will engage your students with a lot of exposure to reading, spelling, conjugating, and pronunciation. The bundle will save you 50%!

This game can be laminated and used repeatedly with dry-erase markers or played on an iPad with annotation/whiteboard tools.

How to play (written on the game page in English): Complete more boxes than your opponent. Each player draws lines using a different color. On your turn, make a horizontal or vertical line from one dot to another. Say the verbs on either side of the line you drew. If you complete a box on your turn, draw an X in the box using your color. Once all of the boxes have been completed, count to see who got the most.

Au Restaurant - French 20 questions game - No prep printable speaking activity

The game of 20 questions is a fun and effective way to practice forming French questions and in this version of the game, students will learn over 50 nouns and verbs that follow a restaurant theme.

This game work for any level as it is written in French and English. Want a real challenge for your upper levels or immersion students? Use the French only version!

➯Included in my French 1 curriculum: Ça y est, je parle français!

Included:

1 version with vocabulary written in French and English

1 version with vocabulary written in French only

Have students work in small groups of 2-4 or project the game and use it as a whole class activity.

This game includes 52 words. Many of the words will be new to your students as this game is meant not only to practice forming questions, but also to build vocabulary. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words. After they've played the games a few times looking at the French-English version they feel more prepared to move on to the French only version.

One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word.

EST-CE QUE…….

… c'est une personne?

… c'est un animal?

… c'est un minéral?

… c'est un endroit?

… c'est un aliment?

… c'est une plante?

… c'est un objet?

The student who has chosen the secret word can answer using the following responses: OUI - NON - PARFOIS - RAREMENT - GÉNÉRALEMENT - PEUT-ÊTRE - CELA DÉPEND - PROBABLEMENT

Alternative game play:

To change up the game and to make it more challenging as well as practicing other skills, have the student who chooses the secret word describe it to others in the group. Instead of asking questions about the secret word, other students listen to the description and guess it.

Play French scattergories when you need quick, no prep activities to play with your class while they practice their French house / maison vocabulary, oral, and written skills. These categories games includes many activities with a French house vocabulary theme which work well as ice-breakers. The vocabulary includes rooms in the house, common household items and appliances.

This is a really fun activity to play with your students as they practice and build their maison themed vocabulary. Students of all ages can play this vocabulary game. Perfect for core and French immersion curriculums.

Players attempt to create answers for each of the four categories for each game on their game card. 4 game cards are included for a total of 12 games and 48 categories. This should be a fast moving game and there are only spaces for six words per category. The MAXIMUM they can write is six words so they have to choose them wisely. Students can be creative and flexible with their answers, but other players can challenge them!

12 games are included with 48 different categories! Just print out the game sheets and you're ready to go. For younger students you can allow more time for thinking and writing, while older students will love the challenge of the timer.

This is a fun review game to play with your Spanish students. I designed this game using regular –er and -ir verbs, as well as ir, ser, hacer, querer, decir, estar, and stem-changing -ir verbs, all in the preterite. This game can be played in centers, or you can print enough for the whole class to play in groups. The game includes:

• 48 cards
• two options for the game board
• an answer key.

Directions:

1. Determine who will play first.
2. The first player draws a card and must conjugate the verb in parentheses. If the conjugation is correct, the player spins and moves the indicated number of spaces. If it is incorrect, the player does not move.
3. The next player draws a card, and play continues.
4. If the player lands on “pierda su turno”, they lose their next turn.
5. If the player lands on “turno extra”, they get an extra turn.
6. Play continues until the first player reaches “el fin”.
