This project has students using math skills to learn about the ways in which Fashion Designers use math on their job. They will use basic math and simple algebra to solve problems facing designers. Includes fully editable files.
This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.

Sketchup Practice - Refining Your Skills | Distance Learning

Sketchup (a free CAD drawing program) is a great way for students to practice math skills and learn skills for STEM careers. This short activity lets them practice frequently used skills such as creating cones and spheres and includes instruction links to assist them. This lesson can be used in technology, engineering, math, CTE or art classes and is also an easy lesson to leave on a day when you need to have a substitute teacher.
The lesson was created for 7th and 8th grade students who had a basic knowledge of the program. However, this lesson could be used successfully with beginning Sketchup students by incorporating the beginning tutorials (provided as Internet links) prior to doing the actual assignment.
This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.

These projects have students using real-world math skills to learn to perform the calculations that are done in various careers within the seventeen career clusters. They will use math skills to learn how to compute measurements, quantities, profit, etc. to solve problems commonly found in that career field.

These lessons were created for 7th and 8th grade but could also be used successfully in upper elementary grades. Fully editable files are included for all lessons.
The bundle includes eighteen (18) different lessons, all of which are also available separately. They are all fully editable and include the student handout, an answer key, and a formula “cheat sheet” for students to assist with problem solving.

Best Real-Life Math Activity - Pythagoras Project - Designing a Road System

This fun, real-life 17-page activity (with complete key) lets students explore their own creativity in designing a road system between 4 towns. Students can DIY and only need an understanding of the Theorem of Pythagoras to be successful with this project.
The first real-life connection - Students will get a vivid and solid idea of what a transportation engineer does on a daily basis.
The second real-life connection - Honey bees build their honeycombs in an optimal way. Once students have come close to solving the challenge of an optimal road system, they will have come close to the design of a honey comb.
