Design and Build a Gingerbread House in Sketchup (Christmas / Winter Holiday)
By Innovations in Technology
The “Designing & Constructing a Gingerbread House” project utilizes teamwork and Sketchup (free CAD software download) to allow students to design and build a gingerbread house to scale. Students work individually to create a scale model drawing of a gingerbread house using Sketchup (CAD) and then brainstorm with their team to determine the best design to build from provided materials with the goal of building the most attractive and creative gingerbread house. Two options are given for building the actual house from recycled materials or from actual edible gingerbread. Finally, they reflect on their learning and the dynamics of their team to complete the project.
The project was created for grades 7-8 but could easily be adapted for younger or older students.
This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.

• Team Sign Up Sheet
• Step-by-Step Tutorial (Sketchup Basics to build a house)

Three great Winter Holiday Lessons (each is also sold separately):
LESSON #1 Winter Holiday Christmas Cards - Video, eCards & Paper
***************************************************************************

No download is required to use the product, making it easy for teachers who are not able to download software on classroom computers to still give their students a choice in learning. The quick start tutorial included with the lesson is intended to help students get started with the program and then use the resources within the program to refine their creations. General project instructions and expectations, along with a grading rubric are also included.
They can also utilize Microsoft PowerPoint to create an animated greeting card. A complete, step-by-step instruction guide is included, along with the project expectations and rubric.
The third option is a more traditional paper card, created in Microsoft Word. A complete, step-by-step instruction guide is included, along with the project expectations and rubric.

Letter to a Member of our Military
By Language Arts Excellence
This may be the most meaningful assignment you give to your students all year.
This product teaches students how to write a letter to a service member who is currently deployed overseas. It describes the importance of writing to our military and gives suggestions for what to say. I use this as an extra credit assignment and hold my students to high standards about the content of their letters. It is incredibly important that genuine thought and effort go into the letters as they are going to real people currently fighting for our country.
If you are in need of a contact to send the letters to, please either message me through TeachShare or email me at language.arts.excellence@gmail.com and I will provide you with the necessary information.

This is a play script for Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol'. It tells the story of a mean, old man named Ebenezer Scrooge, who runs a dark and miserable business. His workers are under-paid and over-worked, especially his assistant Bob Cratchett.
It is Christmas eve and his Bob asks for the day off to spend time with his family, and sick child – Tiny Tim. Scrooge almost refuses but decides to just dock his pay for the day. Then, that evening he gets a visit from his previous business partner – another miserable person called Jacob Marley.
Marley tells him he needs to change his ways or end up with the same fate as him; he tells him how he will be visited by three ghosts that night. The ghosts visit and show Scrooge various things that upset him enough to change his ways.
After the visits of the ghosts Scrooge wakes up on Christmas day a changed man and tries to put right all the wrongs he has caused over the previous decades!
⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻
There are song recommendations throughout the script and roles for 19 speaking parts, with extra parts for up to 30 students. The play is around 40-50 minutes long.
I hope you have fun with it!
