1. Four Corners Icebreaker

Use this fun whole class activity to get your students up and out of their seats and making connections! You will find a few typical all about me questions, but the majority of the slides are geared toward the interests of teenagers, leaning into social media, musical artists, food, fashion and more! You definitely won't see overused questions like "what's your favorite color?" or "How many siblings do you have?" You'll see instant engagement as students realize this isn't another boring classroom game.

Simply print the included labels for each corner of your classroom and project one of the questions. Read it aloud, then students should move to the corner that corresponds with their answer choices. You'll quickly see that students will start opening up as they relax and feel confident to defend their choices.

2. Four Corners Mini Debate Activity

Teacher burnout begone!!! You AND your students will love this fun activity! Perfect as icebreakers for those in-between days during back to school when you don't have anything planned. This Four Corners Mini Debate Activity is a great no-prep activity that you can use any time of year for a fun, engaging activity that your students will LOVE!

Students will love moving around the room as you click through the 35 debatable topics - mostly controversial, but some are silly as well! This is perfect for middle school/high school, but teachers are encouraged to preview the statements and skip over any which you feel are too controversial for your student population. (I definitely stayed away from the most controversial topics).

Students will demonstrate their interpretation of excerpts of the Declaration of Independence in a hands-on activity.

This lesson involves having students examine the impacts of the Industrial Era in the United States with a specific focus on child labor. It is recommended that students will have explored, to some degree, the Industrial era prior to this lesson. This resource will prompt students to analyze social activist Lewis Hines' photographs that depict the various jobs and working conditions that children experienced. The Slide Presentation is interactive, problem posing, and vicariously draws the students into the lives of the children of the Industrial era.
