Social cues encompass the signals individuals convey through their body language and expressions. Many students experiencing challenges with social skills struggle to interpret these cues from facial expressions, gestures, and overall body language. When young people miss these cues, they risk misunderstanding people and situations. Recognizing and interpreting social cues effectively can enhance students' confidence, prepare them for various interactions, help them understand their surroundings, respond appropriately to situations, navigate uncomfortable scenarios, and, crucially, prevent potential conflicts.
Product #1: Social Cues SCENARIO Worksheets and Task Cards
✅ This resource features 40 real-life, highly relevant scenarios, offering students ample opportunities to practice interpreting social cues, making inferences, and responding appropriately.
✅ Moreover, this resource is available in Google Slides! Text boxes have been pre-set to facilitate ease of use for both educators and students. Each slide includes two instructional solution tabs, aiding students in case of accidental deletion of text boxes and providing a zoom-in feature for enlarging worksheets. This feature is particularly beneficial for students who may not be familiar with Google Slides or require additional assistance.
▶️ Social Cues Scenario Task Cards (Colored and B&W)

*******************************
**Role-playing Opportunity: **Engaging in these scenarios offers students a practical opportunity to explore and understand various aspects of interpreting and responding to social cues and body language. Through role-playing, students can develop skills such as reading nonverbal cues, understanding subtle gestures, and responding appropriately in social interactions. This hands-on approach helps students become more adept at interpreting social cues, making informed decisions based on nonverbal communication, and navigating social interactions with confidence.
*******************************

*******************************
Product #2: Social Cues and Body Language Worksheets and Task Cards

Public Speaking Curriculum, Speech Activities, Debate Unit - Research Techniques
By Write On with Jamie
*****************************************************************************************
Introducing research techniques when preparing for a speech has never been easier! This lesson guides students through a step-by-step process of understanding how to research their topics, determine which resources are appropriate, and prepare accordingly. When a middle school student begins a public speaking unit, it is quite often the first time he or she has been required to speak in public, other than the basic Show and Tell in elementary school.
Therefore, it is important to make sure the students become familiar with the basics of how to stand, speak, move, and make eye contact during any type of public speaking situation. This lesson is designed to help the students with multiple aspects of research, so they can prepare their presentation accordingly.
The slide show, and worksheets allow students to practice and develop their public speaking skills. The worksheets reinforce guided note-taking techniques when used in conjunction with the slide show. The detailed lesson plans make implementing public speaking, speech and debate curriculum easy for teachers.
These no-prep lessons are adaptable for in-class instruction, distance learning, or independent student work. The PowerPoints can also be presented as whole class instruction or assigned for students to complete at home.
All materials are available in both Google Drive™ and print formats, ensuring easy access for all students.

Wonder Pre-Reading Reflections
By Abigail J McClellan
This resource is the perfect pre-reading assignment for the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio. It includes six statements where students need to decide if they strongly agree, somewhat agree, somewhat disagree, and strongly disagree. They then have to give their reasoning. These six pre-reading reflection questions get students' brains activated and thinking about various themes, lessons, and ideas they will come across in the novel. It is great to see what students are thinking on these big topics before they begin the novel!! Not only is it fun and engaging for your students, the responses students give are also very interesting to read as a teacher! This product comes with a printable version (pdf) and a Google Drive (Google Slides) version for a total of 4 pages.
** Research has shown that deeper comprehension takes place when students are engaged in activities that bridge prior knowledge with what they are about to learn. This product will help students connect the novel to their already existing knowledge in order to make the new reading more stimulating and engaging.
