Avila is a similar format to Vacaciones en España. The Google Slides™ presentation contains original photographs from Ávila, Spain, a beautiful and medieval city to the north of Madrid. Each slide contains text taking students through Ávila’s past (its incredible walls, towers and cathedral) and present-day life with some views of the city!  The text is mainly written in both present and past (preterite and imperfect) and therefore is great for Years 2, 3 and 4. It comes in a Spanish and English version, and students must follow the clues to help solve a crime.  The clues take them all around Spain where they will learn about various aspects of the culture.  Each clue they solve reveals the next clue! Spanish writing prompts, especially when you make them into a group challenge, are a great way to get your Spanish 2, 3 or students writing, improving and learning from others!  

Your Spanish students will look forward to working together to create writing that meets and exceeds the standards you’re looking for!  Writing together allows peers to learn from each other and takes away some of the pressure when writing alone. The themes are relevant and interesting to students and promote creativity with language. 

All of these resources help give the teacher the resource of time!  The group challenges provide you the chance to offer specific feedback, but on just one paper per group instead of one for every student!  And peer editing is another way for students to receive feedback without the need for the teacher to correct everything.

These Spanish Task Cards are geared towards the four seasons: Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer activities, vacations and events. Situation Task Cards are a great, NO PREP way to get your Spanish 1, 2, 3 and 4 students using language creatively! They have open-ended prompts for students to use while speaking or writing.  (These are generic enough to be used with any curriculum!)  

There are 20 different scenarios for each season which give students an idea of what to talk about in a story that they make up. Each set of  task cards come in 3 versions!  First there is a large scale digital version that can be displayed for the class.  The other version is printable (4 cards per page) and comes in both black and white and an attractive color version. 

These Seasons situation task cards feature scenarios for present, past and future time frames.  Google Slides can be modified if you need to change something to meet your students’ needs!

Also included is a peer feedback sheet and a self-assessment sheet and a vocab list for Fall and Spring vocabulary!  Winter and Summer Task Cards have helpful vocabulary right on the task cards!

• Pair students and have them take turns telling stories based on their scenario
• Ask students to give peer feedback or self-assess
• Display task cards on your Smartboard for the class.  Have one partner make up a story.  Set a timer and challenge them to try to talk the entire time!  Change the slide and have the other partner take a turn!
• Use these task cards as multiple versions of a speaking assessment.  This allows for student choice and/or prevents students sharing the exact task for advance preparation.
• These task cards can also be used for writing prompts or assessments!
• Ask students to peer or self-assess using the included forms
• Print or display the vocabulary list of common words related to the seasons
