  A writing prompt guides students through the storytelling process:

5. A New Friend? The story doesn't end here! What happens next? Do you befriend the creature? Do you embark on an adventure together? Leave the ending open for students to use their imaginations and create a unique conclusion.

As the winter days wind down and the spring weather approaches, many come out of hibernation. The spring season is often a time for children to play outside, participate in outdoor sports, and just enjoy the feeling of being outside in the fresh air. However, during this warm and bright season, it can also be a time of anxiety for children. Children in the upper elementary and middle school grades typically take standardized testing, which is mandated by the state. The months of April and May can actually be quite daunting for some students, which is why this spring yoga sequence is such a great addition to children’s routine. How to Play Bottle Flip

• Place students into random partners and give each set of partners a water bottle to flip
• Print discussion cards for each group
• Have students get out paper for scoring
• The oldest student flips first
• If they flip the bottle and it lands upright, the flipper gets 2 points, and then its their partners turn to flip
• If they flip the bottle and it does not land upright, they have to draw and answer a random question
• If the flipper answers the question, they get one point. If the student does not answer or says “I don’t know,” the OTHER student gets the point and they get to take their turn
• play for 10 minutes and switch partners!
