Make learning about the search for a vaccine and cure for COVID-19  interesting with this no-prep digital escape game.  The game includes access to a website where your students will hunt for the keys to unlock a set of locks.  Students will need to read the clues very carefully and watch videos, visit websites, and read texts to find the information they need to win the game.  Very easy to use - just send your students to the website and let them work!  Students can play individually or in teams.

Digital escape games are a fun way to start a unit, or to review at the end of a unit.  They can also be used to learn about a cultural or historical event.  This game will have your students reading carefully and paying attention to the smallest details in order to complete the challenge and unlock the locks.

Prep is very easy - you just need to share the website URL with your students.  You may want to test the site before you use it, just to make sure nothing is blocked by your district.  As some of the clues can be challenging to unlock, you may choose to help your students with the trickier ones.  With the teacher guide, you will have the answer key - so you can help guide students towards the correct answer by giving them hints, or if you have limited time, you can adjust the game by reducing the number of locks they need to unlock - just give them the answer(s) to help the activity fit your time constraints.

This game does NOT focus on morbid or scary parts of the disease - it is meant to give students the information they need in order to do their part to make healthy choices to help stop the spread of the disease.

There are 19 jungle animals' names to search for, this would be a great fun way to learn about jungle animals. It is a perfect activity for the class or to send your students home with it. Words are hidden in all directions and there may be some overlaps making this definitely a challenging puzzle.

This package can be used in conjunction with the free iCell app (by Hudson Alpha), which is available for iPad and Android, as well as mobile devices. Note: the iPhone app is not as advanced as the iPad app as it only gives basic definitions of cell organelles. The app is a 3D interactive way for students to learn about plant and animal cells. You can move the cell around to see where the different cell organelles are located and click on the organelles to read basic, intermediate, or advanced, descriptions. I wish there were interactive programs like this when I had to learn about cells! This unit aligns with the Ontario Grade 8 Science curriculum. One way to use this package is have students use the app to explore the parts of an animal and a plant cell. After searching online for basic cell diagrams, I did not find any that looked similar to the app so I decided to draw a plant and animal cell in 3D to match the iCell app. The drawings match up to the cells used in the app. Students can look at the basic, intermediate, or advanced descriptions from the app and colour the cell using specific colours as identified in the handout. An additional set of questions is included to ensure students explore through each of the descriptions of the plant and animal cell. 1. Ich Habe, Wer Hat? Card Game

Print out, cut up. It can be played in small or large groups. Hand out all of

the cards to pupils, each has roughly the same number of cards. The student

with the 1st card starts by asking Who has...? The pupil with the matching

card replies and asks Who has...? The game finishes when pupils get to the

last card.

During the activity teacher monitors the correct use of articles.

2. Memory Game

Print out and cut up. It can be played in small groups. For bigger classes

print out several times and play in a number of groups. Students look for pairs.

TIP: Print a copy for each student and use as a picture dictionary. Students

cut out the pictures, glue them into their notebooks and add

descriptions.

This product includes notes for students learning about how plants move materials.

Vocabulary words that are emphasized in this packet include: nonvascular plants, vascular plants, phloem, xylem, veins, transpiration, evaporation, root pressure, cohesion, and gravity.

In this product, students will learn what vascular and nonvascular plants are, how they differ from one another, where they are found, and what they contain. Students will also learn about plant stems and why they are important to a plant, how they benefit a plant, help a plant grow, transport sugars through the plant, etc. Students will also learn, in detail how stems from plants contain 2 important kinds of tissue - phloem and xylem. Students will learn that water moves upward in plants because of three things - root pressure, cohesion, and transpiration. Students will also learn how gravity is beneficial in plants.

Throughout the product, students will complete short answer comprehension questions, fill in the blank questions using a key, labeling a diagram based on what was presented on phloem and xylem and another diagram on transpiration, evaporation, root pressure, cohesion, and gravity.
