Digital Student Portfolio Project for Google Sites

This digital student portfolio project for Google Sites is the perfect way to help your students showcase their work in a professional, organized, and user-friendly way. With this product, you can quickly create portfolios that highlight student work, achievements, and more. Plus, the digital portfolio can be easily shared with parents and administrators for viewing.

This project can range anywhere from 6th grade to 12th grade. Depending on the age, it takes them about 2-3 days to a week from my personal experience with my students.

You will receive a PDF copy of the project directions.

This product provides a generic guide I came up with using AVID strategies as well as a reading my students did this year during their Science and Technology Unit. Using the AVID strategies to practice Close Reading in my AP Spanish Language and Culture course. I have provided this resource with a free example.

• Simply go through the slides and allow students 10 seconds to find the item and hold it up.

In this lesson, students create fashions of their own using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop or Microsoft Paint. Students can also use one of these free Web 2.0 tools: SketchPad (https://sketch.io/sketchpad/) or SumoPaint (https://www.sumopaint.com/home/#app) that do not require download. Two versions of the lesson are included: one is a shorter version to create just one fashion and the other is a longer version to create a fashion line (6-8 items) which are combined into a collage. Depending on the class and the amount of time available, the teacher can choose which version is most appropriate. Both versions include a writing and reflection component to the lesson, giving students the opportunity to consider how they made their design choices. Links to tutorials for the programs are also provided to assist students with their creations. A basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop is helpful if those programs are being used. However, beginning students can incorporate tutorials with this lesson to successfully learn the program as they create their designs.

This is a great activity for a career exploration class, Principles of Arts, A/V Technology & Communications class, Family & Consumer Sciences, Fashion Design, or any technology class. This lesson was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could be used in high school as well.

This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.

Have you tried to teach your students about business introductions? In this lesson, you'll find some easy to follow directions that will allow your students to introduce themselves like business professionals.

Have you tried to talk with students about what a personal brand looks like? Why would they want a brand? What would their brand look like? Here are a few questions that will lead students in to creating a brand that is unique to them.

This project is great for your fashion design students in your entry level class. I usually give my students 10 class days to complete whatever choice they would like to work on from the list. Feel free to give your students whatever timeline fits your lesson plan. I like giving the students choices in case there are students who would like to sketch instead of sewing. No matter what project they choose they are still required to type a paper that discusses the elements and principles of design. Each project has a different set of elements and principles of design that are required for the paper since sometimes it is easier to include certain ones in sewing projects versus sketches.

Prior Knowledge needed:

This project assumes that your class has covered the elements and principles of design but if you have not then feel free to omit that part of the project.

Give your students the opportunity to explore many different careers in a fun and interactive way! This "What Career" card game is played similar to the card game "Apples to Apples" and my students LOVED it! It lead to a lot of conversation, sharing of likes and dislikes, and questioning of what specific careers were - it was so refreshing to listen to them talk non-stop about careers during these class periods! Directions:

• Put students into groups or breakout rooms of 4-6 students
• Go over the directions with students:
• Wait for the impromptu topic to show up on the screen (ex: tell your group 3 different ways to eat an oreo)
• Decide who in the group will start and that student will have 30 seconds to prepare for their speech after the topic is revealed
