This product provides a generic guide I came up with using AVID strategies as well as a reading my students did this year during their Science and Technology Unit. Using the AVID strategies to practice Close Reading in my AP Spanish Language and Culture course. I have provided this resource with a free example.

Teach your students about conflict management through this engaging Passive, Assertive, or Aggressive AVID improv game. This would be perfect to pair with your passive, assertive, or aggressive lesson OR used as a fun team building game. This is also a great way for students to practice their public speaking skills.

Directions:

• Each slide will have a number and that number represents how many actors will participate in the improv.
• Actors will be given a challenge to act out a different scenario and will decide who plays what role as a team.
• Actors should draw a card to decide if they are playing a passive, assertive, or aggressive role.
• They must portray a passive, assertive, or aggressive tone as they act out the scenario.
• The student audience will try to guess what tone each actor is portraying.

In this lesson, students learn fun facts about Henri Matisse and his art as they complete a WebQuest (Internet Scavenger Hunt) to answer questions about the topic. Then, they use that knowledge to create an art project of their own, using Matissse's style, in Microsoft Paint, 3D Paint, or one of these free Web 2.0 tools: SketchPad (https://sketch.io/sketchpad/) or SumoPaint (https://www.sumopaint.com/home/#app) that do not require download. A complete answer key is provided for the WebQuest for easy grading, along with resources for both teachers and students. The student questions are included in both a print version and a digital (editable) version to make it easy for students to complete the lesson digitally or on paper. Also included are tutorial links to assist students with the software for the art project.

This lesson was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could be used in upper elementary as well.

This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.

Here's a LEGO robot that I designed using the LEGO NXT robotics kit. It's a quick build for a single class period activity! SIX EASY STEPS!! The beauty of a quick build like this is a quick break down and put away at the end of class!

This "What Career" card game is played similar to the card game "Apples to Apples" and my students LOVED it! In this lesson, students learn more about famous structures and landmarks in New York and the individuals who created them. Students choose the landmarks they will research and then choose the software they will use to showcase their research. Students can choose to create a presentation, a brochure, or a newspaper using Web 2.0 tools (free, no download needed) or by using Microsoft Office or Google Apps. For classrooms with limited technology, this lesson can be completed with students working in pairs or small groups. The completed presentations can be shared with the rest of the class if the teacher chooses.
